40-45 minutes in; 1 hour out (although I tend to stop on errands so its hard to gauge this one accurately)
20 minutes to work ~ 12 miles 25 minues back 360 is a pain with all those red lights in the mornings.
it's what i miss most about houston. traffic here in atlanta is much worse than houston or dallas. driving to work, 45+ minutes. driving from work, 1 hour or more. taking the train to work, 40 minutes (exact). taking the train from work, 40 minutes (exact). i take the train.
Yeah, I've read that Atlanta has the *worst* traffic and sprawl of any metropolitan area in the country. Houston is up there, but it's not even close to Atlanta, from what I understand. You have my sympathies!
i wouldn't doubt it. i heard it was this way even before the olympics came to town (i've just been here two and half years). i think htownhero is an atlanta resident too. i'm sure he could tell you some stories.
Those of you with half hour or more commutes, especially the young single guys...why don't you move closer to work?? Before we had a family, we lived within walking distance to work -- barely put 4,000 miles on our one car all year!
better yet...i'm moving work closer to home!! woo freaking hoo!! honestly, there are few things i'm more excited about right now, so i keep harping on this...sorry!
I just moved and I don't have regular internet access yet....only at work. Fortunately, I live literally about 30 seconds from work, and about 45 seconds from work if I hit a red light. Yes, I live and work in Houston.
I've spent a long time working in Atlanta, and the traffic is bad. Is it worse than the Katy freeway? No. It's not as bad as LA, either. I think the problem in Atlanta is the fact that two interstates (75&85) become one through the main part of town. Very poor planning, imo. Plus the HOV lanes there suck. They get backed up just like the main lanes. At least in Houston you have a smooth ride in the HOV.
