How long have you been a Rockets fan and where are you from?

I've been a die hard Rockets fan since 1990 and I'm from LA and had always been a closet Dream fan and finally lost a sense of identity with the Lakers during post Magic era.
I have NBA League pass and Tivo all of the games and check them out (hard to balance with a girlfriend) and only miss the San Antonio blowouts where we get pummeled. I can't stand either other Texas team (Mavs or Spurs) but love the Mav's owner Mark Cuban cause his heart's in the right place as an owner (pure LOVE of the game) and he likes to party.

HOLY EFFIN' SH...STUFF. So many of you m' f'ers are ROCKETS' FANS???!?!?! I EFFIN' LOVE IT!!!! I can't believe I read all 20 pages of "ROCKETS FANS". Thanks to everyone.

Here's my story:
I live in Katy since 2002, when I first signed up in this BBS, but had been reading the threads and never wanted to post. I guess I was afraid.

Been living in the U.S. and A. for 22 years, and even before I was in Houston, I remember seeing the Rockets with Jim Peterson and Ralph Sampson and a young Akeem from Mexico, in my home town of Reynosa. We could get SOME games 'cuz NBC showed so many.

I moved to Houston in 1986, and now I am 32 years old, so I guess you can say I have loved NO OTHER team that's not named THE HOUSTON ROCKETS in the NBA. I will defend my ROCKETS against whoever I deem necessary.

I recall going to the PARADES for the '94 and '95 Championships, and my favorite Rockets' moment is when OLAJUWON is holding the ball at the end of the 1993-1994 season, after the Championship was won.


I will love my Rockets no matter who plays, no matter who's injured. I am a ROF. (not Rafer-Only)

From Houston and been a fan for for as long as I can remember, almost 25yrs.

 

Lived in Houston until college, now in Dallas... been a HUGE die hard fan tsince 1991! Go Rockets!

 

I moved to Houston in 80 and became a fan in 82. I didn't even really know about basketball until about 82 when I started going to an elementary school that had a bunch of basketball rims up. I started playing a lot of ball and finally caught on with the Rockets and Cougars. The Rocks were horrible but the Coogs were unbelievable, then of course we got Sampson and it energized the Rocks even though they were still not very good, but then we got Dream and it's been pretty much on since then. From Allen Leavell to Dave Feitl to Buck Johnson, Steve Harris, Dave Jamerson, Purvis Short and Derrick Chievous... Rocks all the way!

 

Native Houstonian, 37, been a Rocket fan since the late 70's. Became a Rocket die hard in the 80-81 season when we went to the finals. I cant believe Gene Peterson is still calling the games.

Watching this 17 game run has been a blast, I hope we keep the intensity going.

 

I've been a basketball fan all my life. Sacramento Kings fan since 1999, and Houston Rockets fan since 2002, because of Yao. Now I watch more Rockets games than the Kings, mainly because of Adelman.

 

Since we drafted Ralph Sampson but I really got into them when I first watched "Akeem Olajuwon" in his first game against the Spurs in 1985. I remember he got me so excited I grabbed my ABA Red White and Blue ball and started doing the Dream Shake, shooting into a grocery cart,lol.

I was 12.

I was in Houston at the time and now reside in Corpus Christi.

 

I grew up and was raised in NW Houston. I've been watching the Rockets since they had sleepy floyd, buck johnson, david wood, kenard winchester and all those other guys back in the late 80's early 90's..I recently moved up to the New York area a few years back but still bleed rocket red..I'm more of a reader than a poster on this forum.. I enjoy everyone's posts on here and feel like for the most part our fans are educated enough in the bball dept.

I've been a Rockets fan for 22 years and live in Nebraska.

 

Since 97 and livin' in the Bay Area.

 

I'm 19, from South Carolina, I became a Rockets fan when they traded for T-mac. I will remain one regardless now.

 

I am from China, I have been Rockets fan since they get Yao. All the Chinese guys like Rockets!!!especially this year!!!

more importantly how many of yall "big posters" actually still play ball or at least shot the rock?

i cant jump like i could 10yrs ago, but i still can run the court and shoot a somewhat consistent jumper

was never a fan of arm chair qb's who dog players for things they could never do..now when chuck misses a layup then ya im gonna yell
