Read this From Rick Reilly's SI
Column...... "In the last three weeks Jordan has unloaded Juwan Howard and Rod Strickland. He'll probably dump Mitch Richmond, now 108 years old, in the summer. That gets him a few million under the cap. With a good calculator, he might be able to sign a big-name free agent, like, oh, say, Chris Webber. You don't think Mr. Bored would sell his mother for a chance to play with Jordan? Not only that, but it also gets Webber out of Sacramento and back to Washington, a city he played in and loved."

I think if MJ does return for next season, It will greatly deminish the Rockets chances of getting Webber. Especiallly if Wash is under the cap.

Also, look for the possiblity of Quitten whining his way out of Portland, in order to once again play the shadow behind MJ. But if it doesn't happen, it is becuase of Pip's salary, and the Wiz are probably smart enough not to take it.

I guess this is all speculation at this point, but I am a fan of Reilly, and he knows Jordan, and his work makes a lot of sense.

    Out.

Jordan's already said he's done. He said that once before, but he says this time he really isn't coming back...

    Scary scenario, though.

Include Barkley in the mix as well...

Report: Jordan '90 Percent' Certain to Make Comeback

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Is Michael Jordan making another
    comeback?

The March 19 issue of Sports Illustrated, which will be out
Wednesday, is citing an unidentified source close to Jordan
who says the part owner and president of basketball
operations for the Washington Wizards is "90 percent
committed" to coming back next season.

The report said Jordan would play for the $1 million veteran's
minimum in order to create even more salary cap room, which
he has begun to clear as president of the woebegone
    franchise.

The report also said that Charles Barkley also would come out
of retirement to play alongside Jordan. Barkley, who retired
after last season and currently is an analyst for TNT, is good
    friends with Jordan.

Jordan did not return telephone calls by SI. Barkley initially
offered no comment, but added, "Put it this way. It would take
extraordinary circumstances for me to come out of retirement."

Jordan, 38, has not played since 1998, when he led the
Chicago Bulls to their third straight NBA championship and
sixth in eight years. Barkley, who turns 38 later this year, spent
most of his final season on the injured list with a ruptured
    quad.

The report said both players have been vigorously working
out. Jordan's weight had climbed to 240 pounds, about 25
more than during his playing days. Barkley ballooned to 337
pounds in retirement but reportedly has lost 30 pounds.

Jordan cannot return to the court whenever the mood suits
him. As an owner, he must give up his minority stake in the
Wizards, which is through a company called Lincoln Holdings.
In 1996, Magic Johnson had to go through a similar process to
return to play with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Perhaps the greatest player in NBA history, Jordan retired a
month before the 1993-94 season after leading the Bulls to
three straight championships. He gave minor league baseball
a try for a season before returning to basketball in February
    1995.

Jordan appeared a bit out of shape and a half-step slow as
the Bulls were ousted by the Orlando Magic in the Eastern
    Conference semifinals.

After an offseason training regimen, Jordan returned with a
vengeance and led the Bulls to a record 72-10 mark and
another title as he won the MVP of the regular season, All-Star
Game and NBA Finals. Powered by Jordan, the Bulls won
    championships in 1997 and 1998.

Barkley never has won a championship, losing to Jordan's
Bulls as a member of the Phoenix Suns in the 1993. He is
scheduled to have his number retired by the Philadelphia
    76ers later this month.

Last month, Jordan traded Juwan Howard to Dallas and
bought Rod Strickland out of his contract. He is expected to
do the latter with Mitch Richmond during the offseason, giving
the Wizards about $20 million in cap room to pursue a free
    agent.

The Wizards are last in the Atlantic Division with a 15-48
mark. Since Jordan came aboard in January 1999, he has
    changed coaches twice.

Washington has made the playoffs once since 1988, losing
three games in a row to Jordan's Bulls in 1997.

Peter Vescey was mocking this rumor. Peter Vescey!!

When Peter "My sources are the voices in my head" Vescey starts mocking your scoops("I didn't know the circulation of SI was so low"), then you know something is wrong.

It isn't possible. It is a stupid rumor started by none-other-than Rick Reilly.

Frankly, if Jordan comes back he is going to get schooled by the McGrady's and Francis' of the world. He has been out of the game two years and he ain't getting any younger.

Ah, once again an aging superstar that left the game on top and has gotten tired of the nights going to sleep wondering what if......and as usual with these creatures of competetive habit they can't and won't give it up till they actually see themselves fall apart on the court.

In Jordan's case I don't care if he comes back or not, but if he does we'll see that he is just what we think he is right now which is older, slower and by far less dominate. If he want's to put together a circus for his ego and Stern's TV $$$ leauge then so be it. Just be warned that these are not the same tigers he tamed for 6 rings.

exactly Saleem. I Don't think Webber is going to play for free, no matter who's the shooting guard.
