This is really important, Bobby. The only way we ever get out of this mess as a nation is to apply the same behavioral standards to everyone. As long as one group has virtually no social standards that they will be held accountable to and another group is under constant assault for the most trivial infractions of the Democrat left's hypersensitive and frequently absurd "Political Correctness" agenda, or even for imaginary infractions that are intentionally fabricated for blatantly partisan reasons, we are going to continue to have this same level of conflict and acrimony, or worse. So, that is also the first step towards answering the central question of this thread posed in the OP. We need to start applying these social standards equally. That is what I am doing and will continue to do. There is more to be done beyond that. But this is literally the first step without which nothing else that is tried can possibly be effective. If you ever want to see our "society" get out of this vile and unsustainable place that it is currently in, you will do the same. Until they are held to the same standards that they apply to others, there will be no healing, no possibility of reconciliation, and we will continue to be a dangerously divided and conflicted nation.
I hope so, I have been waiting for that to happen the last 8 years. If they can separate themselves from Christians, they could be a party I can go for.
Retiring to the fainting couch whenever someone mentions race is not a social standard of the left you should work towards spreading. I certainly don't, which is why your post was really off-target.
In the most sarcastic and anger inducing way possible. You sir, are a tool. Welcome to the ignore list.
Bwahahahaha! Who do you think you are talking to? It certainly is. What's more, you know very well that it is.
I don't see it in my day to day life. As someone said, social media just made this election more "loud and stupid".
Eh? I don't think you understood my post. Edit: I see that you definitely misunderstood my post. You see how that sentence doesn't have a comma or a period in it after "left"? That's important.
I think you are giving him too much credit, I don't think it was sarcasm, I think it might have been just stupidity.
Loud and stupid people (and their champion of loud stupidity, Trump) made this election loud and stupid. Social media is just another megaphone like TV, radio, and print, but somebody has to yell into it.
I don't know if anyone can claim a racially unbiased part in this. It's not about who brought race into the debate. It's always been here. Barack Obama is black. The Tea Party is a >90% white rural movement. Donald Trump is a result of that revolt within the Republican Party. The country is getting darker in population makeup. And despite your best protests, there won't be anyone out there who will be able to Make America White Again. Because that is what his slogan means, pure and simple. For racial minorities, the country is getting better to live in. And for white people without bachelor's degrees, it's not. So you can be like me, vote for McMullin, and hope for a newer more integrated form of conservatism to rise from the ashes of the Republican Party. Or you can vote for Trump and his self-imposed campaign of bigotry, and cry and fester on the conservative fanatic radio stations while control of the country slowly slips through your fingertips. Choose one. Because there are a lot of things to like about conservatism, but none of them reside within the Party of Trump, and none of them will make it into the future.
I have much better conversations here when I decided to take advantage of the new ignore feature. The list isn't super long, but I'm sure you can guess who is on it.
On a serious note, it's very clear who is angry and coming unglued. The "division" and desire for conflict, separation, partisanship and finger-pointing is clearly concentrated more on one side of this election than the other. Doesn't take some kind of political science whiz to see it either.
I don't think the country is that bad off honestly. Do I think the wealthiest Americans control too much of the country, absolutely. But honestly America is already great. This whole idea that Obamacare is the spawn of satan, and all of the rhetoric going on with conservative radio is meant to make it seem like we are living under oppression. We are far from that. Get a grip, OP and realize that politics aside, we live in a great country.
