How do you figure he can't guard Bynum? Some of you sure do give a lot of credit to a 12/10 guy.

True that. Utah gives us fits offensively. Each team has its own strength and weakness. As well we Utah played against us, we were just one rebound away from winning that series. This year they are the same team, but we have upgraded our 4 from Hayes to Mandry (I love this name by the way) and ScoreLa. I think they should fear us more than we fear them should we meet again.

Well if I bank on Deke I'd start putting in deposit now. A 50 yr old center riding the bench the whole year is not going to stop the likes of Bynum's in playoffs.

I don't mean to sound like an a-hole... but the horrible grammar in recent thread titles is really starting to bug me.

Magloire would be a good guy to have against teams like the Lakers.I know we've got Deke, but he could play against the big 4's and some 5's....good insurance and fills a need IMO.

Don't get me wrong Scola and Landry are studs, but another big body that's more mobile than Deke with some talent wouldn't hurt.

If we play utah again, if yao does not score like he's supposed to, i'm actually in favor of benching and letting scola and landry play instead. scola would be the first option in the post and let landry do his garbage thing. On D, but we could have one of them guard boozer and the other on okur.

Utah is the last team i want to face. They simply made yao ming a liability.

i wonder if we could run some type of zone with yao in the middle, our power forward manning up boozer, and everyone else rotating on the other players? Sure it will give Utah more easily open shots on the perimeter...but they'd get them anyways with kickouts from boozer or feeds from DWill? At least it might take boozer out of the game somewhat and keep yao out of foul trouble somewhat?

My first thought is they have us on size, then, I remember, we got Yao. I feel alot better about it this year.

The combo PF's of Landry and Scola give us a consistant 20 ppg and 10 rb per game. I'd say we stack up just fine against the other PF's from the West.

Don't worry about this. I trust Adleman would make the adjustments on defense to handle anything that Utah could throw at us. Something we weren't willing to do last year.

I think the rox have problems when u match up rookies in the playoffs vs. veteran all stars. This team is playing well, but the holes will show. Whether it be against La,Sa,Utah,or Phoe. If yao doesn't dominate his matchup, something he hasn't done in the playoffs, the rox have no chance. Why? Look at the simple matchups.

La- Yao will have to guard gasol and the other 4 will have to chase radmanovich on the perimter.

Sa- Despite the regular season, the last team u want to play in the playoffs. Kurt Thomas away from the basket along with TD, tough to deal with for 7 games.

Phoe- Shaq pushing yao off the blocks, amare rolling to the basket. I actuall like this matchup better, but amare plays pretty good in the playoffs.

Utah- They make u play defense for 24 secs. The Z cuts and back door screens. Boozer will kill yao again, but atleast the rox can get production from the 4 spot too off set Okur.

Its a tough road for the rox. To me they need to get out off spurs bracket. As it stands right now the rox would play spurs in 1st rd. That = 1st rd exit again.

We already beat the Spurs twice this season and hold a 2-1 edge. On March 30th, we will have a 3-1 edge and your crying that we suck against the other Western powers? I think Scola/Landry will play just fine against Stoudamire/Boozer/Kurt Thomas. Besides, we got Battier to play against the other team's best player. Makes ya wonder how Battier would have done on Boozer last year.

Once Yao goes to the bench, the Rockets front court is out matched sizewise against elite teams like LA, SA, and Phoenix. However, there is not too much the Rockets can do at this point. The Rockets need a big 2/3 more than a big 4/5 and they only have 1 roster spot.

I share most of the sentiments here. Many opposing teams will have the most talented PF in the arena, but we'll have starter level output for 48 minutes. As I said in another thread, I expect we'll need all 3 guys because of foul trouble. Scola and Landry need to be especially careful, we'll need their offensive contributions big time to keep the defense honest.

The good thing about having 3 starter quality PF's is the intensity level they can bring. The opposing PF, will not be able to play at a high energy level the entire game.

Boozer is way to strong in the post for battier to defend, however, battier could have held him out of the paint when he was raining shots from 18 ft. If we have to face the Jazz again we will desperatly need to figure out some help defense combo for boozer.

First and foremost, we play help D on anybody. So it doesn't matter if a team has better PF's. BTW, Yao checks Boozer when we play the Jazz anyway. I'll take Boozer shooting jumpers and scoring then Okur and Korver raining 3's. Chuck fell asleep on Okur, who hit a big 3 in game 7.

Our help team defense is going to be major, which means MacLady is going to have to step up and help out. Instead of wandering around and doing nothing on D.

MacLady's defense assignments against playoff teams of which, only Odom is the real concern.
    San An - Bruce Bowen
LA - Odom (he could get abused in the post)
    Phoe - Grant Hill
Denver - kleisa or JR Smith (must stay with both of them who can shoot 3's)
    Dallas - Devean George, Stack,
Hornets - Mo Pete or Bonzi
    Jazz - Miles
