That's a bit of overrexagerration. He was never close to being annointed that because we know a certain Boston Legend won more and was a far better player, BUT he is the best European player ever and as mentioned in another thread, probably the best "pure"(never played ball in the states before coming into the NBA) foreigner ever.

Because Dirk is a stud, plain and simple. It usually seems like he shoots 80% vs us. (Unless RyBo is on him :grin: )
I've come around on Dirk, but I still feel like he is a 7-footer that makes very little impact on the low block on either side of the floor. Still feel like Dallas can only go as far as someone else other than Dirk takes them.
No. The Celtics don't play in Texas. They don't even play in the Western conference, so there's no rivalry with the Rockets.
For all the crap people like to give Dirk about him being a choker and not winning, he's come through in the clutch many times and he's taken his team farther than just about all of the superstars of the most recent generation have gone. Since Dirk entered the league, only Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, and Wade have led their teams to championships as the clear-cut #1 guy. Dirk has at least taken his team to the Finals and spent many years leading a contending team.
People have forgotten about Dirk because the Mavs haven't done anything in the playoffs forever. People are talking about the best PF in the game and no one even mentions Dirk nowadays.
You ghey? yea u ghey. I'll root for him bc he's on my fantasy team but I'll be happy as long as the Lakers, Jazz, Spurs, or Mavs don't win a title. You never root for these guys.
I really hate the Mavs with all of my heart, but Dirk is just a straight beast. His jumper is just deadly.
