Seriously - ANYONE? GIF? I was literally lolz when he let that shot fly - maybe he'll make Shaqtin' a Fool.
You guys are smart enough to know what Morey does. You know, showing off the talent. He does it all the time. There are plenty of guys that can play like Omri or better, which sucks for his skillset. He's a cool kid, but his shot is hot and cold, lol, like Janet Jackson . Hopefully someone can mentor him, like an older "big brother type" to show him his strengths and weaknesses. He's young so you want to approach him with that "gary" area as to not harm his confidence . It's better to be in the middle of everything than to be trapped into a cage like a bird. I do appreciate how McHale lets him have some freedom on the floor from time to time. Must be similar to his Boston days. Anyway, I hate Omri's shot, but I like his attitude. He's a tough player that knows his role even if he's not so frank and/or vocal about his feelings. I think he is one of Morey's better risky investments. Happy Friday. So tired...Let's go Rox!
Funny thing is he's a DMOF (actually don't like to use those labels but in this case couldn't hold myself back )
He did good at the power forward. He's fast and the 7 footers are scared of the contact he causes. At small forward he couldn't stay in front of his guy and couldn't get in a rhythm. Most small forwards are guards and he doesn't have the personality of the guard. Either he finds a coach that will make a success framework at small forward to suit his game (not going to happen) or he's a nba pf.
I don't have a problem. 1. There were a few no calls. 2. It is the memphis grizzlies. 3. McHale said something about playing sharper in post game conference. At the Power forward Omri Casspi is doing fine. At the small forward he is a project.
I understand he has a couple moves he likes to show off, and sometimes they work- but the dude is literally a black hole for ball mvt - once he gets it I am 99.9999999% sure he's gonna shoot it, somehow.
Kevin Mchale said that he needs to be sharper. I think the game at the sf and pf is so different. Around the basket it's more about speed, toughness and winning battles. At the guard and sf it's about being sharp and not missing the shot the post creates for you. It's asking a lot. He was effective around the basket against memphis so portland and sacramento wasn't a fluke. I think he'll have a long successful career.
I don't think this stands the scrutiny of stats. In my opinion Casspi passes almost immediately when he gets the ball (very clever by the way, he does not make TOs). He gives some really nice passes to the penetrating guards and lobs to Dwight and TJ. He has become more and more conscious about shooting the 3-ball only when he is open. IMHO he is not trigger happy at all. For me his 3pt shooting is definitively good enough. He needs to become better finisher in the paint (2+1).
Just saw this reply. So why why why do you think they're here? Defense? Penetration skills? Ball handling? 15-18 foot jump shots? Naw. To hit spot up 3's opened up by Dwight/Harden.
All I want from Casspi is to be sharp at the 3. Hit his shots, don't lose his guy on defense, and have a sharp dribble. At the 4 set the tone. Get the rebound, don't get pushed around, and win his battles.
Casspi is only good if his 3 point shot is falling, which allows him to get to the bucket. If his shot isn't falling, he's horrible. 1. Dribbles the ball by his eyes and is a turnover waiting to happen 2. Get's abused in the post continously by 3's and definitely 4's 3. Takes 12 hours to get to the bucket off the dribble 4. Rebounds like a 3rd string PG 5. The hunch with his hands out drives me nuts, like what did I do. I think I scream at the TV at least 3 times when he's in the game and someone please tell him and Terrence to pick the ball up and stop trying to dribble so much.
Some of your other comments are spot on, others are debatable. But this one is completely off the mark. He rebounds pretty well for a SF, and okay for a stretch 4. He had 8 rebounds in only 15 minutes against the Spurs, and averages 7 rebounds per 36 minutes this season.
Thank you for the correction, it just doesn't feel like he's getting that many boards. He only played 15 minutes against the Spurs, wow!
