I was pretty high on him in the offseason. But damn, he's been terrible for so long now. His hot 3PT shooting streak had ended. I really can't fathom how he's averaging 20mpg on a playoff team like the Rockets. Omri wouldn't even average that much on Milwaukee Bucks. He shouldn't ever get more than 10mpg. Just increase TJ's minutes to 35-36.
He does a really good job moving without the ball, he's a solid passer, and runs the floor hard. Tonight, he got some minutes at the 3 in place of Garcia.
Casspi is one of the better cutters on this team behind Parsons. He does a great job getting to the lane when Dwight posts up. Also he throws pretty good lob passes. His 3 pointer comes and goes.
granted his shooting has been way off, but I see improvement in his game. He used to take every shot contested or not, he has been making much better decisions. I can't hate the guy for taking a wide open 3 ball
The way I see it, both Casspi and Garcia need to be benched, but we don't have enough depth to bench both of them. Garcia got hurt. This is Covington's chance to make some badly needed threes.
This is year one of a team which has potential to be a real contender long-term. We have acquired two all-stars, from there you need time to fill out the roster with good role players. At this stage our role players are inconsistent at best. This is the next test for Morey, we need to fill out the roster with a better bench to be a legitimate finals contender That said I don't dislike casspi he works hard
If only his baskets would fall at a greater %. I never recalled Caspi being a good 3pt shooter? Maybe he should consider mid range jumpers instead???
Cassipi is good at moving without the ball and in transition. He struggles at shooting and creating. we need a coaching staff to put players in positions to succeed... aka if you suck as shooting threes, don't shoot them.
I like his game, he just needs to improve his shooting. I really like how he attacks the basket but I cringe when his shot is way off, but should be an easy layup.
Off the ball shooters? Every shooter, has the ball in their possession. What you mean is catch and shoot guys. Yet this is what happens with shooters, sometimes they go on cold stretches. Sometimes shots just don't fall. The idea is to find other ways to be effective, Casspi still moves without the ball and does other things.
Casspi might be rubbish, but he's less rubbish than anything else we have. Ideally we'd keep him for situational minutes, and find a big man to move ahead of him in the rotation. Hopefully that Asik trade materializes and we get that big man.
At this point I'm willing to give Brewer a shot over both Casspi and Garcia. His 3 point shooting is apparently abysmal, but how much worse a statline than 0/6 etc can he post?
You're being nitpicky, thats what people use to refer to players that don't need the ball in their hands all the time to find their shot. They move around constantly and "catch and shoot" like you put it.
Casspi and Garcia are here for one thing: hit open 3's. They are the worst tandem of 3 point "specialists" in the league. Just terrible.
* Because Casspi features in each and every one of our best defensive lineups (Fact. See lineup thread), and in most of our best offensive lineups. * Because Rockets' lineups with Omri are the ones with the best +/-, NetRtg, IPE, AST Ratio, AST/TO, REB%, %TS, eFG%, and highest PACE of all our frequent lineups. * Because he's still our 3rd best 3PT shooter (even after a 0/6 night). * Because he's our 2nd best stealer (per 36 min). * Because he's our 2nd best in both measured speed, and in distance traveled per 48 minutes. * Because ALL his numbers (adjusted for minutes) are very close to CP's... * Because he's reliable. He consistently contributed in 41 out of 42 games (no one but Dwight played that many games without injury). * Because he plays hard every second he's on court. * Because stupid knee jerk reaction threads after a bad shooting night from 3PT do not count...
