its easy, phil jackson has made it easier not only for the starting 5, but also the bench to be very productive.

You could have been honest and said he has more talent around him now.

maybe a good coach like Phil Jackson,... had something to do with it...

the team make up hasnt changed that much... since when....even the Lakers fans were complaining about the role players on that team....

well I guess 5 or 6 players does constitute bigger than normal change... in the roster...

but Lakers were turning it around with basically the same players before Gasol and the year following Kobe's hissy fit over not trading Bynum

I dont think Kobe's changed his game to be a team player. He's a scorer in every sense of the word. But Kobe trusts his better talented teammates more, so in effect he's more a team player. Does he need to have a disabled player on the team to defer to so he can prove he's about making others better?

Apart from his team approach, you can sometimes tell Kobe carries himself different from others. He's chasing history looking to get on basketball rushmore while others are trying to just get through the day.

The only difference I can tell is that he doesn't throw his teammates under the bus anymore. So perhaps they are not as afraid of him so they are playing looser and therefore better (and yeah, that Pau guy is pretty good too).

I am in general agreement with cabbage and 4prez. "Team player" = "winning player"

Give me a break. MJ averaged 8 assist for a season.. has any other guard or wing man done that since?

unlike someone, MJ actually did make guys like scottie better players.. you know that from watching him in HOU and POR

    The media huh?

Yeah it was the media that caused issues with him and Phil when he said he doesnt like Phil

It wa the media who gave him the issues with the girl in colorado

It was the media that made him go to Ralphs parking lot and throw Bynum under the bus and call the owner a liar on every radio station he could

and I didnt even bring up when he quit on the team in GAME 7 of a playoff game where he stood at halfcour the entire half and passed the ball around saying it was Phil's gameplan
