Lots of inner-city and near inner-city gentrification. Also, everything is more expensive now.

Traffic hasnt gotten any better. The city has many nice spots though. Heck, they have skateparks all over! Downtown is nice but nothing to get excited over. Have fun and be careful while you are here.

Over the last 10 years: Concrete, roads, new subdivisions and de-forestation. It's been crazy.

Less so since the recession hit.

Stick to the Washington area and you'll be fine for the most part.

Roosevelt, Nox, Eight, & Sawyer Park are the better places. A lounge named Diem just opened, which is next to Nox. There are also other places down Washington called Manor, Blue Label, & Reign. Pandora, Drake & Citizen are dead so avoid these places.

Midtown has a couple of spots but I haven't been out there too much recently. I finally checked out Republika but it was dead Friday night. If I had to go anywhere in the midtown area, it would probably be Escobar. It's pretty good on Sunday night. I haven't been to Pravada or Open City in a long time so not sure if it's good any longer.

There are numerous brunch places that can start off Sunday funday. La Strada & Baba Yega are two restaurants that come to mind.

I haven't been to many wine places but Tasting Room in Uptown Park (galleria area) and Max's Wine Dive off Washington are places that also come to mind.

sounds good, but i'm 30, a working father, a family man if you will, i'm not sure if going to clubs is the thing i want to do. actually, i done with it. i started around 16 with a fake id and ended it after i saw a lot of **** i wish i hadn't.

i'll be down to have a pint and play pool, shoot darts, talk ****, whatever. sounds boring, yeah... but i'm married, can't really chase tail anymore... but my wife will be on another continent. shhh...

No mention of Gulfgate so far. Gulfgate has come a long way since it's days as a ghetto mall. Now the area is full of life with all kinds of businesses and traffic can suck sometimes. If you've never been to the area since you left, I think it's worth driving through just to see the change.

Reliant Stadium makes the Astrodome look tiny - kind of depressing to me.
