Because he's teammates with Ricky Davis and Dajuan Wagner, LeBron won't get enough shots to have a high PPG total...

LeBron will average 14 ppg, 5 assists, 1-2 steals, shoot around 42%.

Don't be surprised if LeBron becomes a PG for the Cavs next year. Assuming that they can't trade Ricky Davis for a PG.

I say this or slightly better. Amare had the best rookie season for a HS kid ever, but his situation was very different and he didn't have to create much for himself. The Cavs have Davis, Wagner, and Z all looking to score. James will have to create on his own.

    2.6 points
    1.2 rebounds
    .4 assists
    .06 steals

    per game.

If you set the bar lower, he'll look better. Go 'Bronnie!

That shouldn't be that big of a problem. Cavs would be smart to give LeBron the ball the majority of the time, since he can make his teammates better. Something that obviously Dajuan, Davis, and Z have never really done.

Actually, that is a bit of what I meant - the other guys don't really seem to care about getting others invovled. This could mean that Lebron will have to fight for his own shots against his own teammates. I could be wrong, but there is the potential there.

Additionally, I don't think that a high schooler, no matter how good, should be put in the position to carry/lead the team in his first year. He is just a kid.

    I agree...

But I don't think anything of Ricky Davis, Wagner, or (puke) Miles... Those guys are losers who think they are better than they really are.

If I'm Cle, I build around LeBron asap. I think if anyone can handle the pressure, it's him.

Ideally for Cle, they will trade Davis and/or Wagner for a real PG, and a PF.

back to reality... Lebron may average 8 points, 4 rebounds an a few assists. Kobe, Tracy, Jermaine, KG all took a few years to develop. Don't expect this kid to win a rookie of the year. Amare Stoudemire was the 1st. Just because he did doesn't mean Lebron will.

Man you got to understand that Lebron's gonna play as much minutes as every other starter in the league. He is gonna be the go to guy for the Cavs right away.
That's why he will average a lot more than 8p, 4r and a few assists.
You also have to remember that his body is NBA ready already. T-mac, Jermaine..... and so on didn't have a NBA ready body right away.
Did Kobe, t-mac, jermaine etc. play 35mpg in their rookie season? No. Where they the go to guys for their teams? No. Is Lebron gonna be the go to guy and play 35mpg? Yes.

I hope Cleveland uses him correctly. Personally I hope he is the 6th man for them. He is gifted enough to play either guard position or SF, so bring him in to either slot.
    Minutes: 25
    Pts: 10-12
Asts: 6 (I agree this is why he will be a special player)
    Rbs: 5
ROY, All-Star starter jsut because of the hype.

But I really hope Van Gundy (or whoever the coach is) limits him next year. Don't make him the go-to guy, let him come into the game later when the starters are fatigued or when he is playing against other backups as much as possible.

did you guys realize lamar odom averaged about 16 pts 8 rebounds 5 assists 3 TOs his rookie season? i think that's a reasonable comparison. imho lebron will get his points and probably rebounds, but the assists may be difficult to come by since there are a lot of scorers on that team and not many passers, and if the coach (whomever it is) force feeds lebron shots, somebody's ego will get hurt and there might be some unpleasantness in the locker room, to say the least.

i wonder if the timberwolves are still interested in davis. is davis BYC this coming year? maybe the wolves will give cleveland joe smith for davis. :)

    Lebron stat predictions

    15 pts
    5 rbs
    4 asts

Lebron will get a lot of minutes his first year because Clevland won't be playing for anything.

Who do you guys think Lebron's game most resembles? I've only seen him once but I think he looks like a Tracy McGraddy clone. www.nbadraft.net compares him to Magic Johnson.

I see Lebron averaging stats somewhere on the line of

    12 ppg
    6 rpg
    4 apg

    Carmelo Anthony
    14 ppg
    7 rpg
    2 apg

    Darko Millivic
    8 ppg
    6 rpg
    2 apg

    TJ Ford
    9 ppg
    4 rpg
    6 apg

Rookie of the year: Carmelo Anthony

do you realize Lamar played against harder competition in college?

Lebron has played 17 year olds, so now you think he can take Kobe.

Hello??? Kobe sucked his first year, McGrady sucked his first year, Jermaine O'neal sucked his first year, Garnett was decent and nothing more.

Remember he's coming out of highschool and will be playing for a terrible team to begin with. His teammates will look to score first not give him the ball.

take it easy dude, i'm just throwing that fact out coz i thought it was interesting. i wasn't even trying to make a point. well, maybe i am. i think that after all the hype has been peeled away, it would still be amazing if lebron can just match some of the other recent rookies' (college or high school) achievements. nobody said lamar odom was the savior of anybody when he came out, yet he did better his rookie season than most people here expect lebron to. the amount of hype surrounding him definitely makes it sound as though he should bring a hell of a lot more.

Oak Hill Academy could probably beat some of the chumps that Rhode Island schedules.
