i have been saying for years that Wallace was just as valuable as garnett, but nobody believed me. In fact he has better offensive skills that garnett.
wallace should be mentioned in the fundamentally sound thread. as a matter of fact, is there a player from North Carolina who isn't fundamentally sound? maybe stackhouse.
jumpman, I just don't like the Pistons, though I was very happy when they beat the Lakers. I do like the Spurs some because of TD, Pop & DRob (in the past). On Rasheed again, I don't question his talent and ability. His top of the line game is better than Duncan's. The difference between the two is in the heart and between the ears.
honestly, and this is my opinion, this team is an above average "best team in the league" but nothing monumental ... looking at the last 20-25 years, i think it would be fair to say that some of those boston teams, lakers teams, bulls teams, couple of the portland teams, and maybe some i'm forgetting have been at a similar level. if you kinda rank all the single season teams of the past 25 years, I think this pistons team (so far) has played well enough to rank somewhere between 15-20. in fact I would rank a couple of the phoenix squads higher than them (the 92-93 team, the 94-95 team)... maybe it's been a while since we'd seen alot of multi-talented guys play well together, but I hope we see a re-emergence of these types of teams ... the GMs have gone away from this and they should realize that it's the best type of basketball
Their defense is as good as it was, they just don't play it all the time now. They pick their spots when they clamp down on the opposition. They let the offense beat the crap teams instead of beating them 87-73 they beat them 104-90. When they need the defense though (San Antonio averaged 69 in the two games against Detroit) it is there. It's a hell of a lot easier on the team to not have to grind out every game and they'll be more rested come the playoffs and they will employ that lockdown defense all the time then.
