If I want to see dancing and pop-and-lock, I'll watch Dancing with the Stars or MTV. No complaint from me on the RPDs. Red Rowdies are awesome, my complaint - move them to the corporate areas so they can fill up the seats. But if I pay for a ticket and the Rockets on the floor aren't producing a great product, make up for it by giving away stuff or improve the quality of entertainment.
The bubble around Toyota Center is very nice. If you walk too far you get a large drop off but directly surrounding the stadium is awesome. You guys are giving the crowd a bad rap. When the team is in the playoffs or doing well it is amazing. Houstonians have many options and are generally busy. give them a 20 game winning streak and it gets nuts.
You mean like, one block? (save for Discovery Green) No, we're totally not. Our crowd has a very well earned reputation for being timid and fair weather. As it is for everyone else. Oh lord. Yes, give us a once every 20+ years style winning streak and the Lakers at home and we're the best darn fans in the NBA!
The worst seat in the house is a decent one. I went to Yao's first preseason game in SA. We could barely see anything from the upper deck. The bbq sandwiches (turkey for me) in the Silestone Club are legit.
I lived in Cleveland for a while and went to the Gund Arena/Q quite a bit and the experience was pretty much the same. It was great rooting for the home team for once when I went to a game at the TC though.
I don't understand why everyone hates the crowd. Obviously it's not capacity crowd and lower bowl is empty but who in their right mind thinks that the businessmen who buy lower bowl seats are fans anyway, in ANY city? MSG couldn't even sell out when the Knicks sucked and they have 10+ MILLION PEOPLE to choose from.
Ughhhh, don't remind me of that crap. Maybe they can hire the plates lady and that couple that magically changes clothes for 41 games. At least it's better than the crap they've been putting out there during halftime.
according to this site http://www.databasebasketball.com/teams/teamatt.htm?tm=nyk&lg=n they average 19,000 since 1993.
I've been to about 35 Plus games every season, and the article talks about food. It's Rockets, and hot dogs for me. Or barbecue
The fans are majority in the upper bowl. That's where the Rockets need to focus on to get those fans down into the lower bowl so the team can appreciate the diehard fans rather than those snobby, corporate bastards who want to watch the game in the damn bar instead of in their seats. Kam might be right about the numbers, but when you watch on TV, it's a damn ghost town. The Knicks went out and got Melo, Amare, Billups, and boosted their marketability to put fans in the seats after they realized how much they suck. Now they are at least a decent team that can attract fans. I know we're better than the Knicks, but we have always been fairweather fans. No one shows up til' we hit the playoffs. And who the hell will go next season? Our product is crap until we get superstar(s) on this team who can produce marketability and successfully remove our title - Team with Best Record in the Lottery.
I have been to Hornets, Spurs Mavericks Hawks, Wizards, Heat etc games when the Rockets play them and to be quite honest they were no where near as nice as the Toyota Center. Bar Area, dining, restaurants, and just in general are the best that Ive seen yet!
Here's a link to my Toyota Center 'suite' experience http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=196447
TC runs circles around Miami's AA, and I'd take it over Bradley Center (oldest in the league) or AT&T Center (too cramped and middle of nowhere). I'd say that Philips in Atlanta is a toss-up. Toyota Center is a much more "refined" experience (I've actually heard it described as an office building with an arena in the middle) but Philips has some great, distinctive architecture inspired by the Sydney Opera House, and the main entrance's placement of support girders to spell out "ATLANTA" is also unique, IMO. I also think the wall of luxury boxes on one side (as opposed to a ring around the arena) was a great idea, and I think it would be a good thing if TC used an organ/single instrument for its "crowd pep" noises (like Philips, MSG, or Staples) instead of the current soundboard collection. TC is going into its 9th season anyway, so maybe there will be some tweaks in-store (bigger scoreboard maybe?).
If you rate the actual FANS and not the corporate suits, then yes, I'd give our fans 5/5 as well. A very passionate fanbase.
Anyone else annoyed by the single, endless escalator up to the cheap seats? Two escalators, one on each side, would've been nice. Arena caters to the corporate crowd, no doubt.
I think its pretty crappy, at least compared to the Summit, but not quite as crappy as reliant the only stadium in Houston I think it really top notch is minute maid
