Your value in Parsons is very high... TOO HIGH...!!! But like you already stated _ Iggy isn't getting traded. And I'm not necessarily saying they have to trade Parsons. They still have Asik as a trade piece.

Hows Josh Smith doing so far this year in Detroit as a SF.... How did he do in ATL as a SF... He's a PF. I wouldn't mind him as an upgrade at that spot, but not sure he solves any issues with the perimeter and team defense. Plus that contract for what he would give this team.... iffy....

Iggy is not going to be traded....They moved mountains to get him this Summer, and have you seen GS this year???.. Iggy might be their 2nd best player, and sometimes looks like their 1st all around. They have a real shot to win it all this year... Iggy isn't getting traded.

Defense doesn't get big contracts. Parsons is trying to become a point forward when that's the last thing we need right now.

As I understand, Josh Smith is rated very highly as a perimeter defender. If we played him at the four, he could defend big threes and fours that play from the perimeter. Of course, his jumper is a weakness, but he would improve our defense and defensive rebounding a good bit, I think. Of course, I'm doubtful he's available. They've been playing him off the bench lately in Detroit, but they're probably just doing it to showcase Greg Monroe. I think he's very likely to be traded. If I were OKC, I'd try to pick him up.

I might be wrong. Could've sworn I heard he was coming off the bench on NBA TV. Nevertheless, I still think Detroit will be shipping off one of their bigs.

Another problem would be having the cap rules of the CBA waived for us to pull off this deal (Parsons or Iggy) :p

Whoah what? Josh Smith is a great defender on the perimeter. One of the reasons I was so high on him in the offseason (after we got Dwight) was because of his versatility on that side of the ball. He consistently has some of the best defensive stats, whether guarding SFs or PFs and has amazing defensive RAPM numbers. I won't even comment on his offense, some of which fits great w/ our team (some of which doesn't -- looking at you, Smith midrange jumper). Smoove would solve our defensive problems like easy.

Problem is, I don't know if I would put Smith at the 3 the WHOLE game. In late crunch times, I would put Smith on Lebron or Durant or Melo (regardless of what position they are playing at that time)...in the summer, we could have hoped to get Smith for a S&T centered around Asik, but now...if we'd have to give up Parsons, I don't like it as much. That and DET isn't trading us Smith for Asik haha.

That's true but it's not a MUST to have to hold onto him either. Just like Kyle, Parsons may be more valuable to this team in a trade. And he's very replaceable _ just like Kyle was...

One thing though, Parsons is very cheap for whatever he's receiving now. Maybe next year, his services won't be too cheap for what he'll receive.

The long term solution is we need team defense. Our players are always caught ball watching, not swapping/calling picks, over helping, being greedy and lunging for steals and etc.

The short term band aid solution is better man on man defenders. We already swapped Beverly in. Might as well swap in Garcia. He's streaky on shooting, but he's always good with man on man defense and help defense. It shows he has more competent coaching than the rest of the Rockets team. Put Parsons on the 2nd unit with Lin.

I don't understand the point of your thread. Is anyone claiming Parsons untradable beyond the whole behind-doors Fegan/Howard connection? So far I've seen most fans are easily willing to trade Parsons for the right player. Similar to Asik or Lin or Beverley or anyone not named Harden or Howard.

But he does only make 800k/yr. Which means he can be re-signed in 2 years along with a max contract along with Beverley due to his low cap hold. Whereas Asik and Lin cannot be retained in such a scenario. Regardless of production, from a cap standpoint Parsons is incredibly valuable because you can keep him while adding a 3rd max player. So far this season, that 3rd max player seems more necessity than a luxury.

If he doesn't improve I don't see Morey resigning him unless he decides to sign for under his market value, which he won't. With Harden as the star, you are going to need the four other positions to be at least good on D. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't part of the long-term plans unless he drastically improves his D.

The CBA is the reason why Morey will re-sign Parsons. Because Morey understand how the NBA cap works.

And how much do you see Morey giving him?

Are you more concerned about cheap contracts are winning championships...??? And are you positive the Rockets need a third max contract player...?

I really wanted us to get Iggy last year but a couple posters scoffed at the idea due to his bad offensive game. Glad to see he's proving the doubters wrong so far this season, unfortunately, with another team. Seriously, getting Iggy alone would answer our problems with perimeter defense.

Wait, are you actually telling me that having cheap contracts does not help in building a championship team? Now it's quite clear you have some sort of agenda against Parsons. Are you jealous of his good looks? Envy is not good, you know.

I understand that most fans don't care about the nitty gritty details of the NBA salary cap like me, and I think it's fine. But if you don't understand the cap, then don't make comments on player salaries because you honestly have no clue what you're talking about.
