Everyone highlights look good. The thing I do like, is he can actually dunk off a alley oop or pick n roll. I'm tired of watching Chuck miss layups or reverse layups. Scola pump fake and twist like a ballerina for 12 hours. I have to mention David "Marshmellow" Anderson. Dude gets pushed around like a blow doll. We need somefront court toughness with Battier at backup 3, Jeffries at backup 4, and Armstrong at backup 5. We need D not scoring now
Best thing about this video that I can see, is that playing with Paul has taught him to move without the ball well with cuts and finding open areas. Combine that with the fact that he can finish, I think he can be effect in the Adelman motion offense.
He justs adds that toughness and swagger that we need when Hayes and Scola are on the bench. Love how he made Stoudemire, Howard, and Landry his b****, lol!
I love Jeffries he is a great defender on the post and on the perimeter, he can stretch the defense shoots the three and rebounds well, its the 6million tag on his neck that makes him less attractive .. Hilton Armstrong is like the black shawn bradley .. so prepare yourself ..
I think a better way of looking at it is that the Rockets effectively traded Landry for Martin. The New York deal the Rockets were making before Sacramento got in the picture was McGrady for those other guys and picks. So the only difference when Sacramento was added, from the Rockets' point of view, was Landry and Martin. And that's a very nice deal, considering the Rockets' needs. I've been told Jeffries is a good defender and not bad at shooting the 3. So maybe there's a place for him on the Rockets.
Hilton Armstrong is like Pig Miller in Kelvin Cato's body. Vanilla athletic backup big man. The Kings NEEDED a big when they got him, and he didnt do much to emerge with this supposing to be his contract season. I'm still a little intrigued with him as a starting center, maybe give him the Kwame Brown "starter" role. Which is start the game at tipoff with him, sub him out early and never bring him back in. I'd like to see Hayes matched up against power forwards time to time. Armstrong & Scola could complement each other with defense & offense. Hayes could darn sure compliment Andersen who needs all the help D he can get, plus Andersen compliments Hayes's lack of offense. Can bring Hill along slowly. Jeffries can defend multiple positions willingly and bring the ball up the court. Thats about it. Though thats enough to spell Battier and save his legs. He can com in at any forward position. If they dont throw Jordan Hill into the fray I can see Jeffries actually getting spot usage. Or, they collect DNPs since they're not that good.
I always liked Jeffries because of his versatility, he's pretty quick for 6"11 who could also handle the ball which I think would be valuable to have to match up against guys like Dirk, odom, other bigs that play like guards. If Adelman uses him, I think he'd prove valuable going against those quicker face-up bigs at the four.
Looks like he's a bigger version of Carl Landry. With the great highlights and some explosive performance I wonder why he suddenly found himself at the very end of the bench. Hopefully he can provide the Rockets some power punch from the bench. He'll thrive well especially if paired with Lowry on the running break.
Jeffries was a fail Rodman project. Thomas liked adding a Dennis Rodman to NY but fail twice in Balkman and Jeffries.
These guys were the trash Morey had to take back in order to get Martin. As I understand it, that was the price Morey paid to make this deal. Morey appears to really have been after Martin and those Knicks draft picks in order to position himself to make another deal later. But Hill, Jefferies and Armstrong bring size and nothing else. Remember: Shawn Bradley brought size to the Dallas Mavericks and we ALL know how well that worked out. From what I've seen, Eric Dampier is better than any of these guys and he sucks just as bad as Bradley did. I'm getting a nice chuckle from all of the folks here wishing and hoping that Hill still could turn into a bonafide NBA player because he's only 22, left college early and yada yada yada. It's as if everyone were to close their eyes and wish with all their might, then Hill will miraculously transform into the low post player this team has been searching for for years now. All I can say is good luck with that. Even under the best of circumstances, Hill would need 2 years or more to "develop" and the Rox don't have 2 years to blow on yet another project player especially with situation with Yao in the 2010 season. Funny, but I seem to remember a lot of the same things being posted here about Reece Gaines when the Rox acquired from Orlando along with MeMac. He too had size (for a guard) - all he needed was a change of scenery. Well I hope he's getting that over in Greece or wherever he is right now.
Hill is a lottery pick that has the potential to be AWESOME!!! Armstrong is a young big that LOVES to ball!!! Jeffries is a long D player that brings his A game EVERY game!!! {Hillboy - Please keep the truth out of the public's eyes until these assets (sorry Jeff) have been moved.}
What I'm looking for from Hill is that he be as good as Landry is now, by next year's playoffs. I don't think that's so much wishful thinking - though some.
the fact is none of the three (armstrong, hill, jeffries) has done anything in the league to qualify them as good pickups, they all have something to prove. if they continue to play like they have been, you can pretty much expect 3 bench players at the end of the bench.
Here's an interesting take on Jeffries from ESPN Truehoop. http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/12132/watch-jared-jeffries
Jefferies stats don't look bad but, who knows he was on the knicks. Doesn't look like he's a shot chucker or anything he may just be overpaid we will see. Hope so too about Hill getting Scola's leftovers but I have a feeling Andersen is going to get the minutes behind Scola. I hope I'm wrong. Developing Hill is a must(through dleague or here).
I didn't get the vibe that Morey took back Jordan Hill just to get the trade done. From what I've read, Morey made a young asset like Hill a condition to agreeing to the trade, and the Knicks reluctantly gave up their rookie. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part.
Well, if you are going to gamble on a player, then Morey's right to gamble on a young player like Hill. And Morey had to get a young player back since he was losing Landry. But Hill has shown next to nothing on a pathetic team like the Knicks who were desperate for players. Now, if he was 1/4 the player his "potential" says he should be, he should have shown much more than he has so far. To me that's a big red flag. But then one team's "asset" is another team's nice warm body on the bench...
