let's say thomas AND peterson are both on the board... and they take thomas - i wonder how the fans would react? like williams, in a vaccum, extremely hard to fault them for taking a top-rated lineman, but...

AP is the guy without a doubt.

He's a a franchise back but if we don't get him let's trade down a bit and snag the best corner.

Agreed. That's the position I would take. At risk of getting "neutered, fixed" by msn whatever, if AP comes out in the draft and he's on the board for us, we REALLY need to take him because he is a freak of nature. A potentially "once in a generation" back, the total package. Plus, he is an absolute warrior on the gridiron. He would almost instantaneously by himself, give the Texans an identity. The NFL fraternity as a whole would have to respect us. Teams would no longer laugh at the prospect of playing us. I have seen some of Lynch and he definitely looks skilled but, AP is definitely a cut above. AP is the kind of RB potentially in the LT mode that you will have to account for on every play. Every play he will be a threat to go the distance. He literally revolutionizes our O. Which as of now, would not take that much. :D If we even have just a decent passing game to compliment then we will definitely be a threat as an outside chance for the WC next year. Book it, he could be THAT good!

True. LT supposedly blew it up at the combine.

The francise corner in this draft, Leon Hall, will likely go ahead of Peterson.

It's a tough call between the two,but I wouldn't be able to pass up AP.

This guy has been a man amongst boys from the get go.

He can take it to the house with flair, hitting those holes oh so fast and popping into the secondary where AP kicks into another gear....using great cutback ability.

Adrian will also get those tough yards between the tackles and down at the goalline.

AP = Franchise back....no brainer.(and I was in the Mario camp)

AP is light years ahead of Reggie...He is an every down back who does it all.

Most fans would be upset. For entertainment value, Peterson is a can't miss. I'd disagree with it, because I think that a good line and Davis/Dayne/Lundy is more valuable long-term than a bad line and Peterson.

Doesnt it seem like the Texans may trade down this year? We have different holes to fill, so they may try and get as many picks as they can. I wouldnt mind having AP here next year though, even with a bad offensive line. You just cant count on Davis being healthy.

Kubiak knows there are both pass protection as well as run blocking issues... and add to the fact that they always projected Spencer as a RT (and Winston as a guard).... Joe Thomas would be the perfect fit.

The problem is one pick doesn't make a OL, but it can change the dynamic of your backfield. I'd take an all world RB over an all-world OT. But I would take an all-world OT over anything less than an all world RB.

I don't think AP will be around at 5 unless he does less than spectacular at the combine/workouts. Personally, I think he will show in the workouts what he showed on the field as a freshman (about the best fresh season ever), and that is all-world type talent.

I really hope he doesn't do all that great at the combine so he would fall to us. I have been seeing a lot of mock drafts on the Internet. And the most common picks for us are AP, Joe Thomas, or Laron Landry. The perfect scenario would be that AP falls to us. But I really wouldn't mind either Thomas or Landry because those are two huge holes on the Texans. And just a question, among our safeties, who is better C.C. or Glenn Earl?

He's no Bush, if that's what you guys are thinking...but he may be as good as or better than any back that has ever donned a Texans uniform.

Strange how these "once in generation" runningbacks come every year huh? Man we must have some fast generations....

I agree with VS, AP is a far superior running back prospect than Reggie Bush. He isn't the receiver and kick returner of Bush, but that is not foremost what I'd draft a workhorse RB for anyway.

I wouldn't say once in a generation prospect, but definetly a once in three years, once in five years, type running back talent. I'd say in the class of LT, RW and the Edge of more recent picks (ahead of say Ronnie Brown and Bush who both went #2).

Glenn Earl. Earl can tackle but not cover. CC can't tackle or cover.

So does that mean he can actually make an impact RUNNING?
