Yes, Pau was far more mobile than him until he ended his Lakers days.

There is no racism here. Both Sengun and Kanter are Turks. They are from the same race. I do feel Sengun will have a better career than his fellow country man.

If Sequin makes it to Pau level contribution it will be in the top 10 best draft picks of all time. Getting a HOF of Pau’s level at 16 would be amazing.

That’s the racism. The only similarity between the two is their race.

At 18 years old Pau Gasol played 25 total minutes the entire year in the ACB. He only started getting real minutes at 20 years old, the year before he joined the NBA, and averaged 12 points 6 rebounds in 25 minutes per game.

At 18 years old Sengun averaged 19 points 9 reb 2.7 assists 1.3 stl 1.6 blk 31 PER and was the MVP of his league.

Young Pau and Sengun are very similar in terms of mobility, agility and vertical. Pau has him a bit in length. Sengun stronger.
    They’re very fair comps.

Like most, I went Sabonis. Domantas isn't getting the respect he deserves in this thread. He averaged 20/12 with 7 f***ing assists last year. He is in that tier right below superstar imo. If Sengun can be that in the next few years we should count our lucky stars we got him for two protected picks.

    what does unplayble even mean?
he went to WCF with his team as a significant contributor before being swept by the best team of all times

I think sengun has the widest range of outcomes out of all our draft picks. There’s huge potential not only in his game, but also his body - he’s only 19. I mentioned this in another thread but there’s a decent chance he continues to grow, and if he grows another 1-3 inches and also gets really serious about his diet/workouts, his potential is crazy. That could put him over the top in terms of his ability to play under the basket against premier NBA bigs, because right now he will struggle. More size, strength, leaping ability, and length would go a long way.

Then we have the “what if he learns to shoot 3s”, the question we ask about every player in the nba who can’t shoot them already. A respectable 3 ball would be huge for his game because we’ve seen what he can do when he drives from the perimeter. It’s easy to guard if you play off him, but if you had to respect his 3 then it changes everything.

If all this works out you’re looking at a hall of famer that’s better than everyone on this list. If none of it works out and he remains the same size, doesn’t develop a shot, doesn’t improve his body…you’re looking at a smaller and worse version of Kanter. It’s a very very wide range of outcomes here.

All that being said I already ordered his jersey and I love him. I hope he doesn’t change his number.

    DeJuan Blair/ Clearance Weatherspoon/Kenny Thomas

Good post player, but undersized. Unfortunately the NBA game is played by big humans…

    Are you blind

Dejuan Blair is 6’8. Clearance Weatherspoon is 6’6. Kenny Thomas is 6’7.

    Okur is 6’11.

He just played against Precious Achiuwa of the Toronto Raptors who is 6’8, did they look the same height to you? If so, you need to get your eyes checked.

he seemed smaller on the tee-vee
    Do we have reliable measurement?
He’s not Draymond, Draymond is a smart facilitator, this guy is a creator.
The 3 guys I mentioned had good NBA careers, I don’t get why people got so sensitive.

Thanks for calling out the bias in the poll. You aren't saying that anyone posting here is immoral or evil (though some seem to think is required by the word "racism"). Instead, you're just calling into question why we aren't comparing a more diverse cast of potentially comparable players. Though it is nice that the poll at least offers KAT, but Sengun's game is nothing like his.

We have to ask questions like these: Why is the deck stacked in this manner? Why group players whose performance and playing style share so little in common? It should be pretty self-evident that race and skin color is a key factor in organizing this list.

He’s 6’10. One of the guys you compared him to was 6’6. It’s not being sensitive, your comparison was just ridiculous.

None of those 3 players were more than role players that typically came off the bench.

The hair on top doesn’t count, bro…:)

Seriously, we need to see him next to some legit bigs. Precious is too small, he was projected as a SF…
The Jokic/Kanter comps are way off, they are way bigger, but Sengun’s feet are nimbler…
It’ll be interesting to see Sengun next to Sabonis. That comp is interesting. Sengun already looks more creative with the ball than Sabonis, and Sabonis looks small-ish too, due to his slender build and short arms. However Sabonis is bigger than the guys I mentioned and can hold-up physically in the paint and on the boards.
If Sengun is as big as Sabonis, he will be an All-Star too, and possibly a better player due to his better creativity with the ball. But again, we need to see them side-by-side to get a feel of their size…
