ahh, don't scare me like that. that would mean i would have to go back to dallas i can afford more, but i'd rather not. i'm paying 800 right now for a 2 bedroom 1 bath out here in the 095 burbs. my goal is to begin saving for being able to eventually buy a house. at 800/mo i could get a roommate and afford to rent a house.
alot of people save money to buy houses, some people cut on vacations, some people eat out less.. but moving to the hood? that's a new one. what's wrong with garage apartments in wealthy neighborhoods?
nothing at all, and that's what i would ultimately prefer... where do i find one? it was suggested that i drive through each neighborhood and find the signs.... that doesn't sound too promising though.
go to houston's craigslist and search housing for "garage museum" I found this in two seconds: http://houston.craigslist.org/apa/692960820.html
Yea, but Sharpstown Mall has the world famous TV Jewelry shop. That is a Houston landmark. TV Johnny straight reppin Sharpstown:
Sharpstown is a pretty widespread area so a lot of it depends on where exactly you are in sharpstown. My dad has his office right off the Sharpstown golf course close to Chinatown and that area right there isn't that bad. But if you get to the area behind Sharpstown mall and on the other side of 59, it is pretty bad. I was actually held up at gunpoint and forced to drive these 2 kids (I say kids because they couldn't have been more than 18 years old) to ATMs around the Fondren/Bissonnet area.
This thread is so racist. I am sick of you all calling this area ghetto! What's next? Racial slurs???
Wait a second... Do apartments really cost just $500-600 a month in Houston? Wow, I pay that money for a small single room in an average house in a decent area here in Dublin (not the one in Texas). Time to move to US and A.
Damn, i'm glad you made out alright! Hey didn't Mario Elie get car jacked off the feeder of 59 back in the day?
You can find them, but they tend to be very poor living conditions. I'd say the more typical range for an apartment you'd be willing to take a girl home to would fall between $750-$950. Evan
I pay $290/month for a 1 bedroom in greenspoint. If you grew up in the hood then every hood is generally the same. I didn't know people didn't live this way until i got to about 7th or 8th grade. Hood/Ghetto violence is a bit overrated. As long as you aren't looking to make a name for yourself or get rich off hood money then you can survive with minimal tragedy.
