RM95 was once a baller, a real inside presence.

Now, he is just soft and gooey, like the rest of us old farts.

RM95 = Stay Puffed Marshmallow man.

No, I'm loving Dallas...thanks. I just don't want to live in a country run by a bunch of petty people, and I don't like the direction we're taking. I get annoyed enough at the "patriots" who are pouring out French wine to help beat Saddam, but when our elected officials start acting like that...ugh.

And yes, Sonny, I was kidding. :)

And yes, I am Stay Puffed Marshmallow Man!

You're right....given all the alternatives, I guess 'petty' is pretty terrible. Yeah, we've got major problems here. Maybe it would be different if they were just starving or killing us, but dammit, petty cannot be tolerated.

Yeah, that's what I said. I'd rather our country be run by murderous dictators out to starve there own people. Good job reading between the lines.

No, you said that congressmen being 'petty' was enough to make you want to LEAVE THE COUNTRY, while other countries starve and kill their own people. Do you think people in those countries might want to trade places with you? I guess we can go ahead and throw in the countries riddled with disease. Later, Alec.

Has anyone heard the latest? Sorry I don't have a link, but I heard it on TV. France has said they will agree to a deadline after all. They said if the inspectors can find out within 30 days that they will agree to a 30 day deadline.

Could anyone see the harm in waiting for that 30 day deadline and going at this thing truly unified?

France has seemed obstinate before now. But I guess they've proven a little flexible after all, now if we can just be flexible as well, there's a chance that a unified UN could really be behind the whole action, should it prove warranted.

I think the clock has already struck midnight. The bombs will fall in the next week. 30 days is just a ludicrous suggestion.

In 30 days temperatures will reach 120 degrees in the Iraqi desert. You cannot wear a MOPP suit in that kind of heat - you will die. Literally (case in point - during the 1973 Arab-Israeli war the Egyptians lost somewhere on the order of 50,000 troops as heat casualties, and they weren't wearing MOPP suits). And we cannot send in the troops unless either A) they can wear MOPP IV (full chem/bio protection), or B) we are prepared to take upwards of 30,000 to 35,000 casualties. We are not prepared to take that many casualties.

We either go now, or we wait until late fall when it starts cooling down again. The French know this, and they know that we cannot accept a 30 day postponement. We also cannot keep the whole invasion force there until late fall.

    It's now or never.

The problem with waiting for 30 days is that in 20 days, people will say that there's no way the inspections can be finished in 10 days, we need more time.

It's time for this to be done.

30 Days ago it might had been a nice gesture by the French. :)

With the growing concern Al Qaeda is threatening to attack our troops and the temperatures on the rise it would be inexpedient to delay for another month.

Then I saw wait until next fall. I don't like fighting a war because the weather is right for it. If there isn't a better reason than that, I say wait and let's go at this with almost total world unity.

this is EXACTLY right...and it's what we've been hearing for going on 12 years now. we've just been hearing it really loudly and consistently for the past 6 months.

I disagree, the Inspectors are set to deliver their time table this week. So we'll know by now how long it will take, and it won't change in 10 days, or 20, days. The time table will be in this week and we'll know.

I blame French diplomacy. They obviously blew it. If they wanted to convince Bush and the American public that this war is a bad choice, then they should have done a better job of laying out their worldview. Instead, they simply said any trigger for war will be vetoed no matter what Saddam does.

I think the French, at least Chirac, got into this with real malice. Schroeder is a real hick. But Chirac just ambushed British and American efforts in the UN. Like the Europeans who had never experienced treachery on the level of hitler, the French betrayal was also never expected by the Americans and the British. Now the war is on and France as a nation would have hell to pay.
