I guess I'm not very gamer since I don't have a current generation system yet, and even if I did, I would only buy Madden and Live and rent everything else. But, I do have a NES, Atari 2600, Genesis, Super, PS1, 64, PS2, Game Gear, GBA, DS, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and X-box with loads of games for all of them. What does that make me? Old school or something, I guess...
Agreed. Played WoW for over two years straight in a raiding guild. Some people there treat it like a job. Glad I quit! Ask any former EQ players that played WoW and they say WoW is creampuff in terms of raiding compared to EQ which I was stunned by. The amount of games you play, and the consoles you buy just shows you have enough cash to shell out money for games. But mastering a game, knowing all the tricks inside and out; I think thats when it becomes "hardcore."
I disregard any "GAMER" thread in which RC Cola hasn't voted or contributed. I own about 10 ps1 and 10 PS2 games... I guess I'm not up-to-snuff with new-generation kids like y'al...
Just 4 360 games right now, back when i had ps2 had about 10 or so games. i'm not to big into the computer games...have a couple BF 2, Half-Life, Starcraft. Dont play them enough. I just recently got Halo 2 so i've been on live playing that. Before that I was playing Gears for the longest time, man...xbox live is so great.
Had a PS2 until it died, so then switched to the original XBOX. I think I have 4 games on it, but only really play FIFA World Cup Soccer and NCAA Football. I'll get the new NCAA this week and I'll get Madden in August.
I think you are misunderstanding me. My point was that PC gamers usually have more than 5 PC games so there was no need to put a 1-5 breakdown in a poll.
I stopped 'holding on' to games toward the end of last gen. Primarily getting engaged had something to do with that; it's hard to look at the shelf I had packed full of games and justify it when there are bills to pay. But I pretty much played every single game that was considered any good that gen. Mostly PS2, everything good Gamecube had to offer. I didn't get the XBOX until the last year or year and a half before the next gen started, so I didn't have as many of those games. This gen I tend to buy, play and then trade or sell. I still try to play just about everything that's good on the systems I have out there. This includes handhelds. I've had a DS for a while and recently got a PSP so I'm going through those as well.
The question is not how much of a "gamer" are you; but rather,do you gamers live at home with your parents? I have every war game made for the XBOX; but i haven't played them in over a year. Also,I think Madden and FIFA are a must in any gamer's collection.
I don't buy games all that often for PC. Mainly when I think they'll have a good replay value. I mainly play CSS, BF2, AOE3/WC. I recently got COH, and C&C3. Although I don't enjoy them that much.
I only have one game for my PS3 (Resistance), not counting Super Stardust HD. I usually just rent games until I can start finding some games for cheap. FWIW, I have 20 games or so for my PS2 IIRC.
Yeah there was novelty for me in keeping original games around. Now that there's rom's and mame's and emulators of almost every game (and resell value is low for games after a few months let alone years unless its a rare classic), not as much reason anymore to keep them around. Even the grandest of games have low replay value after a while cuz there's always something new and better to put time into (though admittedly I wouldn mind seeing my original dusty atari system laying around still...) Oh, this is about gamers and what we have...eh, nothin really. Got an N64 with 3 games down from 11, and an original Xbox with 4 games I havent played in 2.5 years. Those choices werent in the poll so choose "rent". As soon as I update myself from this 1990 Sharp TV to some real deal HDTV I'll get back into the console gaming I think
13 360 games - ~4 for each time I have had to send that ****er back to get it fixed. Even with the 30% defect rate, there is still only like a 2.7% chance of getting 3 bad ones in a row. Not very lucky for me. Hopefully I don't beat the 0.8% odds and get a fourth one that sucks.
