How frustrating is it to still be a 7th seed ?

We have the same record as 3rd seed New Orleans. The Denver win tied us up with New Orleans for the 3rd seed. Who has the tiebreaker?

NO has one less loss. They are 1/2 a game ahead of us. But if we were tied, NO has the tiebreaker. We're 1-1 head to head and NO has a better conference record.

if playoffs ended today, would we hit utah, then san antonio to get to western finals?

if so- i want playoffs to start tomorrow!

But if you look at the records, we may be 5th, but we would have home court over Utah in the first round...so essentially we are now 4th.

The Rockets are a half game out of 3rd freaking place! Think about how insane that is. I don't know if that'll hold up given the tough upcoming schedule, but we at least gave ourselves a great shot at a postseason berth by beating Denver tonight.

 

Thanks to the ridiculous ranking system, 5th seed is very good, even better than 2nd and 3rd seeds.

They did lose, but they only have 19 losses. They've played one less game than the Rockets.

espn.com just changed the default view of the NBA standings. Now it's the conference view instead of by division.

True. Would you rather be in 5th with home court vs. Utah (like last year) or be in 3rd with home court vs. Phoenix or in 2nd with home court vs. Dallas? Almost all the playoff matchups in the West are going to be tough.

 

Ask a Dallas fan, because my team is a 5th seed. What a difference a day makes!!!!

 

Could be third by the end of the week; just keep doing what they are doing and Rockets will be NBA Champions. They can't take the trophy from them unless they lose. If the Rockets win the next five games, they will have a twenty game win streak, they will be considered legit contenders by everyone, and they could be number one in the West. I can't believe I just said this.
