That's what I'm thinking. The signing of Bonzi just adds Bonzi to our tradeable assets.

The Rockets should only trade either Synder, Sura, Lucas, Alston, and Lucas. Those are the only players I believe the Rockets should look to packagae for PF.

He's playing for 2.8 million. This means we won't get equal value for him in return. So trading him would be a BAD idea. Also, there was probably a verbal agreement before he signed that he would NOT be traded.

What would you call equal value? I just don't understand how you guys could continue to like this guy. He's everything that's wrong with sports. He admittedly didn't play hard last year because he didn't get paid. He's a 6'5" 2 guard getting paid to play basketball and he can't get his weight to 240? Give me a break. He can only lose weight if he gets playing time? No wonder there's such a problem with obesity in the US. The guy quits on his team through a text message with 5 games left in the season. I could go on and on. The fact is, if this guy is on the team next year, I'm going to have a hard time rooting for him. He could come into training camp in fantastic shape and work his ass off and prove me wrong, but do you really see that happening? For 2.3 mill? Yeah, right.

Unless you package him with Bobby Sura's expiring and a draft pick. Then you would be able to acquire someone in the $6-8 Mill range like Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Chris Wilcox or Udonis Haslem.

And its not a new contract, its not opting out of the existing contract which I doubt has a no-trade clause.

If he could get anything of worth he would be a miricle worker. The only value Bonzi has right now is his contract ends after this year. Thats the only thing good about him coming back. If he stinks it up his contract is tradeable. At least I think it is.

Calling Gater. Is there anything in his contract that wouldnt allow us to trade him this year?

I hope you are kidding. Cook is a PF who can shoot but is very soft in every other aspect. Why give up Luther and Bonzi when Novak is basically the same thing. Even worse, Vujacic is a terrible player. He cant shoot as good as Luther and is weaker, slower, and equally bad at running the point.

Honestly, I think Luther is much better then Vujacic, and I think Bonzi is better then Cook. Unless more then a second round pick is added in, I say no way.

That stupid Wells/Head for Cook/Vu**** was made up by some Laker fan that writes for that stupid hoops world website. You can go look for it on there if you want.

Yes, I saw that too. Weird... He must post here then, if he's that big of a basketball nerd to write articles for a relatively obscure website. Maybe I missed something...

The article speculating about Wells and Head to the Lakers is written by some guy named Pincus. You can google "Head,Wells,Cook..." and see it, I think.

I doubt the Rockets would agree to this with Bonzi after last year. I expect Bonzi's agent is just trying to get Early Bird status for Bonzi so they can force a good extention or sign and trade.

Even if they did make some verbal agreement, they should still trade him. He deserves that and much worse.

I think Bonzi and management have done a lot of talking and I think Bonzi is 99% sure he's staying, plus Ricky would want him to stay.

I am not too enthuised by the James trade or Bonzi staying. Those guys were supposed to pan out with us a year or 2 ago. They are old fart coming back. I am not sure a 2 year older James would be much better than the one that were ejected in game 7 Dallas series. Bonzi too. We need to stop looking at over-the-hill guys. I thought CD and JVG's left, but the same philosophy seems to stay.

James is what he is. A energy guy who can put points up coming off the bench.

really depends on what we can do with the MLE.

If we can sign a starting PF, we can keep Luther and our pick

If we trade Luther and our pick for a PF, we need to sign a shooter to come off the bench

    Snyder
    Luther
    Sura
    VSpan

Battier is a big trade chip, but I really dont see us moving him.
