Hi guys, Sorry if this is posted somwhere else. If so, please provide link. My questions regarding rep is as follows: - how do you get pos or neg rep? - if it's from other people giving you or taking away rep points, how does someone do it? I can't find the options for it. - do you get anything for having positive rep? Or is it just used as an indicator for the type of poster someone is?
Only contributing members can give out positive rep. Not sure about negative, I think only mods can do that. If a poster has a lot of green boxes, he/she has been given a lot of positive rep, indicating that he/she is a good quality poster.
Additional question: Is there a feature that allows you to find what posts earned you positive or negative rep? I'd really like to know.
P.S. - I know you can click on the "Feedback" for each individual post, but the more you post, the harder it is to figure out which one to click on.
If you click on the "User CP" tab up at the top next to the FAQ tab, it shows you your reps and specific comments about your post/rep you received
How long is it before you can re-rep or how many people do you have to rep in order to re-rep somebody? As everybody knows, I ask a lot of questions on this board and I try to rep everybody that gives a serious/good response to one of those questions.
That information is not public. However, it's been posted before that 20 seems to be the magical number. You can read Clutch's response to that very same question.
No, just teasing. Look at the thread below, it takes awhile, and apparently forever for some lol. I still have my fingers crossed though.
I hope he was kidding. I've been giving "green" to folks that make a good post, regardless of their member status, but I'm just about to make myself a vow to only give it to contributing members. As a matter of fact, it's something all of us who've been here a while should consider. Maybe if the word gets around, all these "members" will help Clutch out. Food for thought.
I was kidding. However just because some don't have the "contributing member" tag, it doesn't mean they didn't donate. I know Clutch is a busy man so I don't blame him.
I'm glad. I know Clutch is a busy guy and it does frequently takes him some time to change a person to "contributing member," but I've noticed a heck of a lot of "members" with a lot of posts recently, who've been here long enough to contribute and have it show up under their moniker. Kind of bugs me.
I've got a question about rep. I took a look today to see where my rep was coming from, I noticed I went from Lowry-Brooks. Two of them are grey boxes, what does that mean?
