Individually, yes, Gilda was the greatest. Without a doubt.

But as far as making a collective impact on the show, Aykroyd, Belushi, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray etc. totally swamped them. The girls had their moments, but they were not as intergral to the shows success as the later three. Seriously, how many non-straightman characters did Jane Curtin and Lorraine Newman have? They were fine, but besides the Coneheads, they were support cast. Gilda was different. But the other two women were not stars.

Its not really their fault -- look how SNL overlooked Julia Louis Dreyfuss when she was there. The chuck-comedy was fairly lame until the mid-1990s. Jan Hooks was good, but other than her, it was a wasteland from Gilda to Molly Shannon and company. Not that the cast was bad, but they were not well used.

As a point of information, Tina Fey is 50x better than Jimmy Fallon, who actually sucks other than a handful of high-quality imitations. And Sully and Denise.

"Do you know what I'm thinking now"

"I have a pretty good idea"

    "Is it umm doable"

    "I think its definitly doable"..................
