Lots of talk about bringing in Josh Smith this season (I say hell no).

Why bring in Smith when we have a guy that is Josh Smith-ish (without the entitlement)? Josh Smith came into the league as an offensive rebounding, shot-blocking, energy guy that probably shoots too many threes.

Terrence Jones looks similar to Smith in his rookie season, both physically (both 6-9, lefties) and stats-wise. Not to mention they were both drafted around the same spot (Smith #17, Jones #18)

Given it's REALLY early and it's a real small sample size of games, but Jones has shown his athleticism and energy is NBA material. Thoughts?

I saw jones get rejected by Wesley Johnson last night and realized he isn't that athletic, He just has those super long arms that enable him to get above the rim. His vertical jump isn't that high

I didn't purposely leave that, but what a game-changer! Everything else doesn't matter.

So because he gets blocked that means he's no longer athletic?

Blake Griffin has been blocked before by Kris Humphries of all people, I guess he's not really athletic.

    Jones is very athletic.

Smith was a much larger part of Atlanta's gameplan - Jones has not been. I'm not saying they're on the same exact trajectory, but there are some similarities that should be recognized.

In the last 7 games, Jones has averaged:

    24 mins, 9.4 pts, 6.3 rebs, 1 ast, 2.1 blks, 1.1 stl and shooting 48.3%

watch all his dunks from this season on youtube. He doesn't really jump high at all like josh smith. His long arms are the reasons he gets dunks.

err.... u do know that the only reason wesley johnson was drafted this high was because he was an athletic freak back in college and athletic freaks dominate college balls.

It's much more than just how high you can jump. It's also agility, speed, strength. all these things add up to how athletic a player is. All those things Terrance is pretty athletic.

I'm with the OP on this one.

JSmith demands max contract, yet he's not a game-changer. He makes bone-headed decisions on the court. I'll pick Tjones over him. (However, I'll pick LMAldridge over Tjones.)

Couldn't agree with you more. I don't understand bringing in headcases, bratty players like Smith and Cousins.

Definitely, but it's something to chew on. I think there's potential there.

Again, I don't know how good Jones will be, but he's showing a lot of the same (GOOD) qualities that Smith is known for (with seemingly more braincells).

Meh I think there are plenty of NBA players that show "potential" but most don't really pan out. Stromile Swift to name one.
