Don't racists subjugate people and keep them at arm's length.... not get them to guest- host their valuable radio show which they've spent a lifetime growing....

I think it would be more productive to define racism for what it is, rather than what it is not. That way, those who should obviously be considered racists won't be able to go out and find one black friend to indemnify themselves against embarrassing accusations.

I actually agree with Rush occasionally (not on this), but the problem with him is that he always comes off as a giant ass hole even when he is saying something reasonable (I know that is rare). Even when he is saying something I agree with, he just comes across as a huge douchebag. He just seems liek a completely miserable guy

So let's have the people that are leveling the charges provide the definition and the proof rather than just launching irresponsible accusations.

I think I've offered substantive "proof" that Rush is not at-heart a racist by his willingness FOR YEARS to hand over his show to black guest co-hosts and the only response that yield are some lame, cheap shots from the peanut gallery about the lily-livered black friend defense...

fatty fat b*stard is funny? huh.

I post in this forum maybe once a week, if that. There is nothing new to see here, it's all the same friggen song on an endless loop. Why would I have to pretend to be above it?

yes, in an unintentional way...kind of like sarah palin.

a better question to ask would be why do you read and post in the d&d if you think its the same friggen song on an endless loop? if i felt that way about something i wouldnt pay any attention to it.

He is subjugating people and keeping them at arms length. The fact that two guest hosts of his show are also black doesn't change any of that.

Do you dispute that your defense of Rush is analogous to the black friend defense? There were slaves tasked with the care of their masters' children, so I'm not sure how the mere act of tasking a black man with the duties of hosting your radio show means you're not a racist. Perhaps you could clarify your line of thinking.

Racism is not an either or deal. Once can do racist things and also not do racist things.

Murderers can't successfully argue, "I'm not a murderer, some of my best friends are alive."

That doesn't change the fact that they did murder.

If someone treats people differently because they are of a certain race, or refers to them differently or talks about them in a different way, then it could very well be racism.

A guest host doesn't change what Rush has said and done. The first time you mentioned that I thought you were trying to be ironic, because everyone knows that its a famous excuse that doesn't really keep someone from being racist.

In May, Limbaugh commented on former President Bill Clinton’s appointment as special envoy to Haiti by saying,

    hum....

    Yes I do dispute that.

Slaves were totally dependent on the well-wishes of their masters. Williams and Sowell are not so I think you owe them an apology for your analogy.

not really - what you seem to be saying is that complaining about limbaugh, ect is a like a broken record. what im saying is that if you feel that way than why read it? obviously others care about or have an opinion on the matter, at least enough to comment on an internets message board. if you are tired of hearing about it then dont pay attention to it. and if you need an explanation as to why this particular incident is noteworthy than you might not be as impartial as you claim to be.

i dont really pay attention to peoples names when im reading posts, but i often see you whining about people doing things like debating and discussing current events or being critical of glenn beck, palin or limbaugh - this is the forum for that kind of stuff so if it bothers you as much as it seems why do you come in and read it? and even worse, why do you constantly whine about it?

and yes i realize the irony of me whining about you whining about others whining about current events/government/media figures. circle of life...

Would you even know who those two are if it weren't for Rush's program? It seems like they are dependent on Rush in some sense. Still, I don't see how there dependence or lack thereof, whichever may be the case, effects the validity of the analogy in one way or the other. The mere fact that somebody trusts a black person with something important to him/her does not preclude him/her from being a racist.

Sowell I knew. Williams was some kind of professor at GWU. My point was that they were self-sustaining, respected professionals in diverse fields without Rush Limbaugh.

There are levels of trust and different requirements for handing it over to people.

Well, these quotes have pissed me off enough to send off a little bit more money to the Red Cross.

    thanks Beck and especially Rush.
