if we ever match up with Utah, Deke can shut down boozer, he embaraces other players with his defense specialy when he blocks someone and wiggle his finger, it makes the opponets players angry.

he motivated everybody with his defense, plus if u notice EVERY TIME cp3 drove to the basket his hands up in the air, and evertime we theres is a loos ball in the air, his hands are up there. He hustles and get other players motivated.

Deke should get 12-15 mins a game. The Rockets fg% suffers when Yao goes out because scola, hayes, ad landry are too small to play center against most teams. Sure the offense will lag some, but he challenges at the basket and intimidates penetration. Yeah, chuck will take charges, but when a guy penetrates and deke is in the game, those guys start to kick out or pump fake. Their not looking for chuck, they're looking for deke.

I'm not saying he should play every game but when we are getting torched in the middle with penetration and easy layups he should be brought in to put a stop to it.

you need to re read my post. those minutes are NOT always there. chuck played in only 6/10 games this month. when he's used it's as a specialist to stop the PnR. when teams don't try to exploit yao on the PnR adelman doesn't need chuck.

when teams do try to exploit yao on the PnR, deke would not be able to help. he's as slow laterally as yao. that's why chuck gets those specialized minutes only during certain matchups where lateral quickness on the PnR are killing the rockets.

if a team doesn't use that against us, adelman doesn't need more than 3 post players in a game.

I am pretty sure that Mutumbo's lack of playing time lies in the fact that he brings no offense to the court.

Adelman is an offensive minded coach and I see him putting up with Battier mainly because he is a forward that can occasionally hit some threes or use his athleticism. With Mutumbo, everyone knows you are sacrificing scoring and from what I have seen of Adelman's moves as Rockets coach, he likes to play the match up which Deke may not fit into at this point.

I rather the PNR defense suffer a little rather than not having the lack of height and intimidating interior defense which Mutombo brings.

I would like to see Deke get about 10 minutes a game during the final stretch, especially now since Carl is gonna be out a few weeks. I think he can really control the paint with his rebounds and blocks facing a 2nd unit in 5 minute spirts each half. I know he doesn't bring much offense but I'd like to see him in there with Lowry, Wafer, Artest and Scola/Landry. Just outlet to Kyle or Von and let them do what they do.

Deke should be in there every game. If he can deter the other team from scoring 6 or so points, then it's worth it.

Partially to keep him fresh for the playoffs, partially because we probably won't have him next year and need to learn to deal with it. We will most likely sign another backup big in the offseason, but you never know.

I am pretty sure they are trying to groom Dorsey to fill the backup big center position. He'd probably be on the court now, if it weren't for that fouling problem of his.

Plus the GARM would BLOW completely up if Deke were to outplay Yao... You think we have a couple of threads now about "Do we need Yao"...

He will have role in the playoffs.

I think (hope) sooner or later, Adelman will figure out that it might be good to have Yao and Deke in the game together at certain points, just like it is good to have Battier/Artest and Brooks/Lowry on the court together in certain situations.

Deke's anticipation/reflex/reaction time, at 42, is equal to or better than Yao's. Both could be better at catching passes, though.
