The days of high picks getting unconditional starting job are over. I'm sure there will be developmental considerations for high potential guys getting more minutes then their performances deserve, but they will have to earn the starting job like everybody else. At least that's what I hope will happen. And what are the chances of KPJ still with the team next season? They are probably trying to bring in a veteran PG to ensure decent offensive set up.
This is interesting, didn’t even consider it. But if we sign someone like FVV then I could totally see it.
Here's a novel concept: why not let everyone BATTLE for their role or starting position? If Thompson is getting his cheeks clapped by KPJ in camp why should Amen start? Same thing on the flip side if KPJ is being outplayed by any other player on the roster then they should hurdle him in the playing totem. If Tari is playing better than Jabari he should start. Competition brings out the best in everyone. The cream will always rise to the top.
KPJ is as good as gone if he doesn't get in line. However, it seems like KPJ is all for the org with his actions this off-season so maybe he won't be against coming off the bench as the 6th man.
If KPJ had that luxury over Wall, why shouldn’t Amen? For the record though, I do think it would be best to have Amen earn his spots.
You mean when Stone and Tilman payed Wall to sit out the '21 season and it led to drafting Jalen or the year before when KPJ only played 23 games and spent time in the GLeague?
I think KPJ is capable off the ball and being set up as a shooter/slasher. I think he will start over Amen at first but that may change as the season wears on. I also wonder if Ime will use him as a wing. Could he start at the 3? Maybe Ime can get him to play better defense.
KPJ can be the back-up SG or leave. PG rotation should be any of these scenarios: TyTy - Amen - Augustin Amen - TyTy - Augustin new FA - TyTy - Amen new FA - Amen - TyTy
I think it’s a weird narrative around Thompson, that if he doesn’t develop a shot that he just is an absolute bust. If Thompson hits his median outcome, a Thompson/Green/KPJ 1-3 has a lot if balance.
KPJ is a knuckle head. He is immature and has attitude problems. They need to get rid of him a long with KMJ, another idiot.
I don't think they will sit their 4th pick however KPJ, even tho i think we should trade him (if we are planning to keep play him as pg), is the best player on the team with sengun. He is best shooter on the team by a long shot. You could even say that right now he's the only shooter we have. His playmaking is meh but last season he kept us in the games with his catch and shoot 3s. I'd say abandon the pg experiment put him on the wing, Amen plays pg. I don't like KPJ as a point guard but he'd be a damn good wing. Besides what's gonna happen if Green still can't make 3's? His fg was worse in his 2nd year than in his rookie year. He gets compared to Ant every single day but Ant's 3pt fg increased every year. If Jalen isn't .36 from behind the arc next season and he can't defend i'd let Green go and keep KPJ. I think Amen and KPJ can play together.
Amen is going to have to be that guy that needs to be the engine for the offense like Russ. If its the bench unit, All leak out and Amen grabs the dreb and pushes the pace and is surrounded by shooters. So you need to promote Tari to starting lineup. KPJ with more off ball and spot up focus at the 2, sign a SF that can shoot. Hope Garuba is a 3 pt corner specialist at the 4 and a big strong 5. Problem is your starting unit can't shoot even if you sign a FVV. You need Green to be more consistent, you need Bari to be the shooter he was expected to be and you need Sengun and Tari to be capable of hitting the open ones.
Porter has been on relatively good behavior since the halftime incident. I am never pleased with hisbody language, or leadership. And admittedly, it’s just me speculating, but I had some questions about if he has actually been good for the culture. That being said, it is certainly possible that Silas was enabling him. He might be the straightest of arrows under the new regime. Some people respond like that.
Amen will be great for both Jalen and KPJ. In fact, Amen with KPJ in a second unit this year would be freaking awesome. KPJ’s shooting compliments Amen well.
