I simply can't stand this guy. Never have I even chuckled at one of his jokes. Never watch the stupid show, but have to put up with his commercials on TBS. Not to mention his voice is more annoying then Van Chancellor.

George Lopez was funny when he was up and coming, i knew of people that were asian that even followed this guy, even his sitcom was entertaining. But his recent stand up and late now show suck. But then again so do most late night hosts. And i tend to agree about jay-z, he needs to retire, all he's doing is speaking about being older, rich, and the best rap artist.
I had a chance to see George Lopez before. As one of the posters said... **** George Lopez. The dude is overrated and his jokes aren't really that funny. How many times is he going to talk about having chickens in his front lawn or other mexican jokes? But to be truly honest, there isn't a lot of good comedians out there any more. Most comedians talk about jokes that involve their own race. A great comedian has jokes for everyone. Bernie Mac was very underrated IMO. Russell Peters is ok. Richard Pryor had some really good stuff. I never had a chance to see him live but he was pretty damn good.
This one especially. I watched one of his stand-ups on HBO and the whole freaking thing revolved around his ethnicity.
I remember Richard Pryor in "Richard Pryor: Live" had jokes about blacks, whites, Mexicans, Asians, men, women, everybody. He was great!
Actually, it's pretty easy to figure out how the dumbest mofo's on the planet have high-paying high-profile jobs. They are simply the paragon of the masses. People see in other stars the inanity and stupidity that permeates the souls of those they lift up. Businessmen understand this and try to exploit the tendencies of the people for profit--they aren't the smartest ones in society by any stretch of the imagination, it's just the opposite. They have the best gauge on what Average Joe is thinkin about and by golly they've got the will to abuse that knowledge. So don't blame the ones at the top. They're not driving anything. If it's not them it'll be some other two-bit peckerwood up there. Blame everyone on earth who gave support for such an institution to lead to its spokespersons pissing you off so much. And then do something about it.
stand up comics earn their money, IMO. A mic, a stage and an audience. Tell me something I haven't heard before and make it funny. It's a tough gig. At least musicians get to play their hits (we even hate it when they play their new stuff rather then the stuff we've heard before). TV shows are puzzling. I never know why some get cancelled and others live on forever. I find Two and Half Men about as bland and unspectacular as they come -- but it lives on while others get the ax. As for those I don't understand how they get paid....Lindsay Lohan. She's been in a handful of inconsequential movies, and yet...somehow gets paid 'appearance' money to be a barfly and tabloid fodder. She can't be getting a lot of movie residuals (as she's not done that many), has no family money...and still lives 'the life.' Crazy.
The Progressive Insurance spokeswomen in those commercials. I didn't considered them just because of her. Why isn't the company losing money hand over fist?
Dr. Phil - The guy hasn't done SQUAT to earn any of the respect that he gets. There are people out there who think he's the second coming of God simply because he tells you to "help yourself." His advice is nothing more than pure common sense, and honestly, sometimes it's less than that even. He's not even a real doctor!! I just don't get all the adoration middle-aged housewives give to this guy, which actually brings me to my next person..... Oprah - WTF. I understand that she does a lot of good in the community, but honestly, if I got paid literally millions and millions of dollars to do NOTHING, I would do an assload of charity too. I'm not saying she's not a good person, or that she doesn't deserve ANYTHING that she has......but she's like the richest woman in the world, or something ludicrous like that. Am I missing something here?? If somebody can explain to me why she's THIS famous, I would appreciate it, because it's completely mind-boggling to me. Is it because she's black, so white women feel like she has instant credibility or something? How is she THIS popular?
Great thread - completely agree with the first 3 in the opening post. Also would mention Fran Blinebury if the dude is still writing for a paper and pulling a paycheck - worst sportswriter I have ever read. And Lady Gaga, I can somewhat see as she has a shtick that gets her attention and the music is catchy (I'm a sucker for electronic type music), but unfortunately with her success, we are seeing imitators coming out of the woodwork. Example is Ke$ha - she was on an AI results show, singing this ridiculously stupid song called "Blah Blah" or something like that with these tools dancing behind her with freaking television sets on their heads. I told my wife that my decision to not watch AI this season was completely justified after viewing that horrendous, odorous, and horrific performance. So, if Ke$ha is pulling a paycheck, I sure in the hell don't know how.
Yeah, you know what is funny is that I watch stand-ups from other comedians and they copy what he did just put it in different terms. I'm like, that isn't anything but a recycled Pryor joke. Watch the beginning of You So Crazy and the beginning of Richard Pryor: Live and you'll see exactly what I am talking about.
