I enjoyed those new lock out refs. They saw everything. The old ones are so ****ing bad, obvious, sell outs....
Its good as it is. Set the precedent that you won't get a foul call unless it is absolutely necessary. I would HATE to lose to some douchebag that flops his way to a victory. Hopefully it encourages those floppers to actually play NBA basketball rather than cry and whine themselves to the free throw line.
I'm not really sure why this is even an issue, is it the media love affair with Paul George? That sort of no call is almost a weekly event, sometimes on much more obvious fouls.
I want consistency with the refs. Also in the last second. The rules are there for a reason, and why would you forget about the rules when it is most important. It is not like we change rules for another sport when it is at the end of the game. With Tennis we don't suddenly say at matchpoint if the ball is within an inch of hte line we call it in. In general i'm actually starting to get pretty upset with the refs in basketbal. There are so many questionable calls (or even complete random calls, things that happen every play,. but they only call a foul once every 30 times).
Are you talking about the whole game or just the last 5 seconds? Nobody would disagree with what you said. The question is, should it be the whole game or just at the end of a close game? If you support the latter, you need to give reasons why it shouldn't be applied to the whole game.
I personally think plays at the end of the game should be more heavily reviewed using replay. There's no good reason I can think of for why the refs shouldn't be able to review a final shot. LeBron clearly fouled him. That's the sort of thing that refs might miss during the game now and then, which is fine because you don't want to disturb the flow of the game too much by scrutinizing every call and no-call. But at the end, when stakes are highest, "flow of the game" shouldn't enter into the equation at all. Just get the call right.
