How do you think Daryl Morey will address the Center problem?

People thinking we have a center problem are way off base. We have a low talent level/assets problem. Maybe nobody has noticed, but despite years of "smart" trades and drafting by Morey, our overall talent level is lower than when he started. That's what happens when you have two Top 10 NBA players and watch them deteriorate and get nothing for them. There's no reason to run out and get a center right now. Under any realistic center trade scenario we still project as a <40 win team this year and for the near future. Similarly, there is no need to look for a center in particular to "build around." We need to get the best potential franchise cornerstone regardless of what position he plays. We can get a center anytime.

For all of Morey's supposed wizardry, he hasn't even come close to getting us that franchise player. Well, he did have a chance but actually turned down trading for Amare Stoudamire, who has scored 30+ points in 9 straight games as of now. The price would have been Shane Battier, who is worthless other than as an expiring, and Luis Scola, who was signed to a contract that will probably become an albatross in a few years when his skills deteriorate with age.

It's time to go back to the drawing board, and hopefully our esteemed GM will have the balls to trade for a superstar next time he is offered up to us on a silver platter.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how that would work, Leeb, but it would sure shake things up. You're trying to make DD's head explode. ;)

I see, so we bend everyone over and abuse them for 48 hours straight, have to convince them to do it though.

Why would anyone give us 3 solid vets and 2 good prospects for expirings and a first rounder?

If they (DEN) are clearing house like they say they are when they trade Melo, doing this trade plus the azz load of 1st rd picks that they are bound to get from NY ot NJ will significantly help them. It has already been discussed and considered that if Melo is moved then they would likely move Billups' contract too. I think he has 2 more years left and we would need him around for leadership since we would be trading Battier.

By doing this DEN would be getting 31.9 mil off the books this year. I would also throw in Chuck Hayes contract of 1.9 mil = 33.4 mil Thats financial freedom !!!

We would get young big athletic dynamic talent to keep us competitive while we try to develop acquired lottery picks. We would also be getting a veteran PG to develop our young guards.

I would have DEN give us one of their acquired picks from the Melo deal for us taking so much of their salary.

It makes a lot of logic and thats probly the most we could net for Yao's contract. You have to move him now for the sake of the team's on-court product. Unfortunately, he has never been more valuable than he (or his contract) is right now.

This is what I see and I didn't include scola , yet  . Larry brown would love a lowry type of pg. He likes the eric snow/mark jackson types and thats cool. Lowry would get his wish to start. The grizz are looking to dump thabeet, but want some form of talent in return. The knicks aren't playing randolph and are still pursuing anthony. All for of the teams have something to gain.

Houston get Randolph,Turiaf, and Thabeet. The get 2 centers and a versitile 3/4 in randolph. I think thabeet can and randolph can cover up defensively alot for scola, martin and brooks. Thabeet and randolph are sub 23 and turiaf is 27 i think. Not only that, the rockets drop salary.

Memphis get augustin to back up conley and miller as the vet. He can play his minutes and add his professionalism to the squad. Marc gasol is the future and miller would be fine playing 13 mins or so behind gasol.

Knicks get a vet in shane who can defend some and add intangibles. They're on their way to the playoffs and if they make the carmello deal, he will be fine off the bench if they move gallo or chandler. Chase is another guy they can use in that offense where defense isn't required.

Charlotte mixes it up a little by getting lowry and he is a larry brown type of pg. Right now, they're trying to do something and I'm sure lowry will agree to go to a team where he can start.

Win-win for everyone in my opinion.

I think you can, if the receiving team agrees to waive the physical for "salary dumping purposes"

If Yao feels he is done for, he should agree to be traded to a team looking to rebuild. I think he is a reasonable person and would see it as his last act in helping out Houston by acquiring a star player.

Hell, he wouldn't even have to report to the team; just stay here in Houston and drink beer and fried chicken on his couch.

Assuming that he either retires or signs backs with us on the cheap, there aren't any FA's this summer that are all that exciting. Gasol's younger brother will get overpaid somewhere, and Nene, though super underrated, is a big contract away from become injury prone again.

We should stick to the trade deadline and maybe the draft to pick up a star player.

I think they will let him go for the TE because the will need the $$$ for the contract that Gasol will demand in the off season. We might have to include a 2nd rd pick also (which I would do)

I would do a trade like this.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=25y6kfm

    Heres my reasoning for it:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/22828/roy-looking-for-better-fit-than-miller

As you can see Roy is looking for someone better than Miller.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5928487

The Bobcats are gauging the value of Wallace

And we already knew that the Kings wanted a point guard.

We would most likely have to give up our picks to Portland and Sacramento.

Then in the summer we need to sign someone with the midlevel exception. If we're lucky we can net in Marc Gasol, but thats most likely not happening. Theres still plenty of centers to choose from though such as Tyson Chandler, Samuel Dalembert, Nenad Kristic, etc.

Houston gets a great defender in Wallace whose been coached by Adelman before. He can score, rebound, defend. All in all hes a good catch. We get Tyrus Thomas whose a young, athletic big who can score, rebound, block shots and defend.

Bobcats get a capable point guard in Andre Miller, Jason Thompson a young up and coming center, a great veteran in Luis Schola, and NIcolas BAtum another young good talent.

Kings recieve a quality point guard in Augustin, a good wing player in Battier, and Jordan Hil to add to their sea of big men.

Portland gets Aaron Brooks, who can score and has ball-handling skills, but he still allows Roy to hand the ball. KInd of like how we wanted Brooks, and Mcgrady to be, also he went to Oregon in college so that a plus. Diaw's a quality back up forward/ starter that Portland can use. Budinger gives them another scorer off the bench. Derick Brown gets gives them another forward, and they can use Jeffries but he's mostly an expiring.

Is Thabeet even serviceable? I forgot he was even in the league. Hakeem should be talking to him.

With the suns getting Gortat that gives them Frye, Gortat, and Lopez at the Center. Would yall trade C-Bud for Robin Lopez?
