    Anthony Randolph

    Brooks/Lowry/Ish
    Martin/Lee
    TWill/Battier
    Randolph/Miller/Thabeet/Kaman
    Scola/Patterson/

Turn the trade with the Knicks involving the 2011 pick swap for Randolph.

........move Hill and Jeffries for Kamaan and the right to switch 2012 first rounders with the Clippers. Send that right to Memphis with Hayes for Thabeet.

and run with this squad. Leave AR out there to develop. Play Miller with the bench squad. Send Thabeet to D-league to develop. Let Kaman sit the bench and use him for injuries special situations, or if Randolph struggles. And let Randolph and Patterson develop with the big boys.

Not a legit NBA Center. He has some rebounding and shot-blocking abilities, but its at the PF spot. He would get abused in the paint by the likes of a Dwight Howard.

I wouldn't mind acquiring Anthony Randolph as a flyer (in every sense) at the four position. For now, until we can get a legit starting C, who can play at both ends, I hope we'll just increase minutes for the Brad Miller/Jordan Hill combo.

Demarcus Cousins looked like he could be a very good C in the NBA for the next 15 years... If he keeps it together. Anyone know how Patrick Patterson relates to Cousins? Any positive influence there? Or does PP regard Cousins, as so many seem to regard Cousins, as a problem child? PP might be a good character reference for Morey to consult.

Dampier signed with the Heat: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/erick_dampier/index.html

Anyway how to address the C problem?

Plan A: Trade for Kevin Love

    Trade proposal: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2bcpjp9

Outgoing Rockets players: Brooks, Battier, Budinger and Scola
Incoming Rockets players: Love and G. Wallace
Why? Let's answer with a question: 'Doesn't this addresses the C AND SF problem?' Give Minny also the 2011 1st round draft pick (NY) and more draft picks (I don't care if we have to bomb Minny with draft picks). Kahn might consider a package with Scola and Brooks + Diaw + picks. We all know Kahn loves PG's at a whole other dimension ...

Wallace might come at a low price, Bobcats are willing to blow up their roster and need a young SF (Bud) and a veteran leader (Battier). Minny could trade Ridnour to give them more depth at the PG. If needed, we could give them also a future first round draft pick(s). Bud could be their SF instead of Morrison that should have been their young, high potential SF ...

    Rockets line-up:
    PG: Lowry/Ish
    SG: Martin/Lee
    SF: Wallace/T-Will/Jeffries
    PF: Hill/Hayes/Patt
    C: Love/Miller

Plan B: Trade for Al Horford?

We need to give Hill a chance to develop his game and bball IQ. I say that since yao is out, we should keep him around and have him tutor/mentor Hill. We also need Hill to bulk up so that he's a better post presence. I mean Dwight Howard is around Hill's height and is comsidered one of today's finest centers. Why not have Yao help Hill develop into that kind of player? Have the elegance of Yao's touch AND Dwight's forceful presence!

    What about hortford.

They are trying to get an extension done but cant. They overpaid johnson and Smith...can they really afford to over pay hortford.

Is there a chance that we can swoop in with a trade that gets hortford?

I think he is above and beyond the best center we could accquire. We could eat his entire salary with trade exceptions and offer draft picks and young talent. Like Brooks and Budinger...patterson. Not sure what it would take...but maybe a 3 team deal.

Your trade is not utterly ridiculous in the sense that you are giving some talent for Love. But it also isn't going to happen. They are not stupid enough to trade Love for less talent. Everyone in the league is looking for that elite player to build a team around. You don't throw those kind of players away unless you are desperately in financial hell or they or going to leave anyway. Neither of those apply to Love. As for Horford he is not on the same level but I am not sure that makes us any better. Horford for Scola and Brooks might make us worse. I would still probably do that deal because in the end it would be easier to replace those guys then it would to get Horford. But by that same token Atlanta would be stupid to do that deal.

In hindsight it is why to not send a draft pick to Charlotte to secure the Chandler deal may have been Morey's biggest blunder. I was all for getting Chandler last summer. We were trying to steal him and Morey would have been crowned a God if we got him in that proposed deal that fell thru. IMO this might be Moreys biggest fault. He will never overpay for value. He wants to get the deal of the century or at least come out ahead IMO.

I feel like the most likely route is going for Thabeet considering Memphis has put him on the trade block and they want to clear some cap space so they can sign Gasol long term.

The one name that jumps out from that free agent list is Dalembert. Anyone seen him play recently? If he's the same guy as he was in philly then he's perfect for this team.

Can't believe nobody has picked and mentioned this gem from the OP. Cleverly disguised let's trade for Desagana Diop joke-thread, candidate for worse signing of the decade.

We don't have a C problem because we are in rebuild mode. Develop Hill, address it through high lottery pick. First round exits, forever mediocrity is not something we should look forward to.

Agree we don't have a center problem. Hayes/Miller will do for now. If we trade a second-rounder for Kevin Durant tomorrow, we wouldn't be missing the playoffs for lack of a better center. I think Morey won't worry about it this season, and might make some efforts to pick up a center in the offseason if there's an opportunity to be had.

Battier and chase for randolph and turiaf. Miller to memphis, thabeet to houston, augustine to memphis, lowry to charlotte. The rockets just got longer, cheaper, more athletic, and have 2 centers who can hold down the spot in thabeet and turiaf. Brooks,Martin, randolph, scola, and thabeet as a starting 5. Williams, hill, lee, turiaf, hayes, jeffries off the bench. Win-win for everyone. The rockets get developing young talent, lowry gets to start, shane is on a playoff team, and miller is helping the young grizz.
