DeMarcus Cousins is the best option as of now, he would be a great piece to quickly rebuild around. We have the assets to acquire him and it seems a close relationship with the Kings higher authority.

If we can get Cousins you pull the trigger, right now we have no one that has the potential to be a player that you can build around.

Yao and Jeffries for Iggy and Brand; start Brand at center.

Horford is already locked up. That must be an old list.

If Yao's career is over, the center position is the least of our worries. This team was built around Yao. Without Yao we don't even have a superstar name on our roster. If this is the end of the Yao era, I want to see them blow it up and rebuild. Let guys like Scola and Battier go to a team that can contend. Bring back draft picks and young undeveloped talent. Slapping a bandaid on the center position is the least of my concern right now.

They should blow the thing up. Nobody out there can really replace a healthy Yao Ming except Dwight Howard and that is a pipe dream at this point. They need to go younger. If they do blow-it-up trade Martin/Scola/Brooks. The point is Martin and Scola can't lead a team now anyways. Are they worth keeping? Didn't think so. Even Martin in Sacramento was playing better without him. Also point guards don't win big in the playoffs without a dominate interior presence. Right now his value is at an all-time high. I'm talking about Brooks. It will never get higher. There's a saying that defense wins championships. It always has and these three players don't play defense. So are they worth keeping? Didn't think so. The future will be brighter when these three are gone for under developed talent.

If not Cousins, give Baby Jesus (Marc Gasol) a lot of money- like enough where the Grizzlies can't match

Scola and JJ for Dalembert and Landry - intriguing, and may make sense for both sides

This was my thought as well. You give up basically nothing, and you get a little more offense and a lot more defense.

I don't think we have more of a "center problem" than we did before the stress fracture was revealed. As far as this season goes, that's exactly why Brad Miller was signed. The thing that has changed is that it looks like Yao might be officially done, so the team needs to find its center of the future. So I think now Morey will be looking harder at finding a young center talent to develop. He'll probably be taking a harder look at trying to pry away Cousins.

Except any cap flexibility. Until we know what the new CBA is, we need to have options.

Thought you can't trade injured players? They have to pass a physical no?

I'd love it if this were to happen. The Rockets would actually be fielding a really good team. But it's hard to believe Morey would actually trade Yao.

I say trade Yao's expiring contract to Washington for Gilbert Arenas and send Arenas to Orlando for Gortat.

One such scenario I thought up could be:

Houston trades: Yao, Bud and 2012 NY pick to Washington while sending Shane to Orlando.

Orlando trades: Rashard Lewis and Marcin Gortat to Houston while sending a future first to Washington.

Washington trades: Gilbert Arenas to Orlando while sending a future first to Houston.

Houston receives: Rashard Lewis and Marcin Gortat along with Washington future first.

Orlando receives: Shane Battier and Gilbert Arenas

Washington receives: Chase Budinger and 2012 NY Pick and Future Orlando first.

Why would Houston do this? A legit center and a very good (if not grossly overpaid) perimeter player to replace Shane. Also, a chance at lottery luck with Washington pick.

Why would Orlando do this? Lewis has always been a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. Also, as I mentioned, he is grossly overpaid. They have also been coveting Arenas but haven't had the cap flexibility to do much. Washington doesn't want Rashard (honestly not many teams do) clogging up future cap space and Shane would greatly help the team during playoff times and allows them more versatility as he or Arenas can come off the bench.

Why would Washington do this? Gilbert's days in Washington have been numbered for a LONG time. They would trade him in an instant if it didn't mean taking back a bad contract. In this case, they get to dump Arenas' contract, they get two future firsts, and they get a proven rotation player in Chase Budinger on the cheap.

    Houston Lineup would be:

    Brooks
    Martin
    Lewis
    Scola
    Gortat

and off the bench we'd have:

Lowry, Smith, Lee, Williams, Hill, Hayes, Miller, Patterson, Jeffries

    Orlando Lineup would be:

    Nelson
    Arenas
    Carter
    Bass
    Howard

and off the bench they'd have:

Duhon, Battier, Pietrus, Reddick, Anderson or they can have Battier start and move Arenas coming off the bench.

It isn't perfect, but it's just a thought.

What he should do is go after young talent offering teams ridiculous packages of his older best players to stack the deck to get the young potential superstar here. What he is probably gonna do per Moreys style is add another flufkin role player type on the cheap.

    We are now officially sellers.

Marc Gasol. I think they'll make a reasonable offer that the Griz won't match. Adelman likes those kind of centers. He will turn Gasol in to Vlade Divac version 2.0.

Wow, Orlando has approx 53 mil committed to Howard, Lewis, and Carter; Nelson and Reddick earn more than Gortat.

    I wouldn't mind seeing Gortat as a long-term C.

    Or Thompson from Sacramento.
