Just turned 40 in November. For the past few years I was really feeling my age because I had gotten significantly slower playing Ultimate frisbee and I played with chronic pain, which affected my level of confidence/agression during games. However, in the last few months my injuries/pain have cleared up and I seem to gotten a step or two back. So, even though I just hit the 4 decade mark, I'm feeling younger than I did at 37-38.
Happy birthday TexasFlight. Don't feel old man. It's weird for me. Sometimes I feel old, and sometimes I feel like I'm still young/learning. I think for those who are really feeling old, just try something a little different in your life. Believe me, thats alot easier said than done but I'm trying! I set a good amount of goals this year for new years and I'm sticking it to it. Hell, I even made hard goals like...marathon training. I'm still young (24, turning 25 in may) but it's getting harder to do this kind of stuff to my body. Yes I know those older are scoffing at where I am right now but seriously, you guys can do it too! It's always best to always be a student of whatever it is in life and keep learning. That should keep you young for a long, long time.
You can't be feeling that old if "igotask8board" is your moniker. So do you have a skateboard? Like " I got a skateboard". Or do you have to skateboard? "I gotta skateboard" Either way you're not feeling old.
You feel older when you have to get creative with your haircut so you can do a combover. You feel older when you can't lose that holiday weight in a week or two by just eating better. You feel older when your back is stiff from sleeping in.
quoted for truth. Fortunately, Im normally so far behind in work and work-around-the-house, that I can make valid excuses for not being able to go out....but really...I probably wouldnt go anyway. Ive spent alot of time enhancing the entertainment options at home, I woudl really rather spend the night watching a good movie on my big tv whilst curled up on my big cushy couch. A lot less expensive (save the money for the toys I want) and you cant get hurt or in trouble if you stay home and drink.
Most people on the board are surprised to learn I'm only 23 (like fatty who swears I claimed to be 25 a few years ago). I've been posting here since I was 15. I do feel old now when I realize how many hours of my life have been wasted on this site. Lately i've been feeling old because I haven't been carded much in the past year.
I as a 23 year old also, get carded about once every ten times. That has happened to me since I was about 17 (big and hairy). What makes me feel old is the fact that I go to bed every night at 9:30 so I won't be tired at work.
I just feel old, I don't look old.....yet. This cashier at Wal-Mart was hitting on me a few months ago. We were talking about kids and how we each loved to spoil them. I then said something like "Of course they are not mine but my nieces and nephew" and she said "Of course, you probably not really old enough to have kids are you, what are 18?" I still get carded at all the clubs and liquor stores too. I don't look old but looking back at TV shows, accomplishments, failures, etc. I know that I am getting old.
I know I'm getting old when I can relate to this thread. I just had my 29th b-day a week ago. Seriously, I'm w/ you guys on a lot of your posts, you're not alone. The biggest indicator for me has been watching movies. I NEVER went to the movie theater. Ok, maybe once a year. I would always go out, clubs, bars, parties, etc. But now when Fri/Sat night rolls around and I think of the hassle of finding parking and walking downtown I just don't feel like it. And when I think of having to wait in line at a club behind some idiot, loudmouth, know-it-alls and trying to get approval from some pretentious bouncer, I feel the situation should be reversed: clubs should be begging me for my business, not me having to put up w/ these 'rules'. I know it sounds egotistical, but it's probably me just not having the patience to put up w/ that crap anymore. So now going out to the movies and MAYBE getting a (single) drink at a quiet restaurant/bar are far more likely. I've seen more movies at the theater in the past few months then I have in years. ...And I also have more frequent bowel movements.
i completely agree with watching movies and having a beer at home. i never did that before. also, i'm becoming a light weight and can't drink like i used to. i had one margarita at tony's mexican restaurant last night with dinner and i woke up today with a slight headache. what is up with that?? i used to regularly drink 8-10 hard liquor drinks 2-3 nights in a row and be fine.
Ditto for me, except I've always liked staying in and having a beer at home. Most of the time now, no matter how much I drink, I have a headache the next day. It blows. Never too old for the wake and bake which gets rid of said headache.
When I went to a bar where the doorman cards everyone, and realized I didn't have my ID. I said 'I don't have my ID, that's not going to be a problem is it?' He said 'No.' Dick. I feel oldest when hotties call me 'Sir.' Ugh.
I'm 22. I know when I'm getting old when I realized that I couldn't mess around with high school girls anymore.
