Almost all my friend are those still stuck in 2003 with the "pssh Yao Ming sucks" I really really hate those people. I even have some that'll still yell out "HAKEEEEMMM!!!!" when the Rockets are mentioned. :(

This is why I'm almost on this site 24/7. If you check the users that are online, more than likely my name will be on there. Where do you guys find these people who are real Rockets fans? I'm tired of being labeled that guy "oh he's that rockets freak kid" by these sports-oblivious zombies. I say zombies because if you say you support the team and you say Yao sucks, then you might as well be dead to me.

I don't remember the last time I actually had a nice intelligent Rockets convo with anyone in person. It's usually me explaining who and what's happening with the Rockets and that Hakeem is retired.

I'm not saying I'm perfect either.. I'm no baseball fan, at all (although I will support any Houston team), but whenever the 'Stros hit the playoffs I get all fake and act like I'm the biggest fan. "Hell yeah, Astros rule baybay!!!" But yeah I really don't care. I don't even have the slightest clue what an ERA is.

Those people piss me off too, Dave. What's funny though is I can stand the occasional ignorant Houston fan, but I can't stand dumbass Mavericks fans who LITERALLY don't know anything at all about basketball. Now I go to UH but there's a guy in my Spanish class who's all "Yeeah, Mavs represent!" and all he does is tease me about how awesome the Mavs are and how much the Rockets suck. I bring up their record from last year and how they were ousted in the first round by an eighth seed and he just looks at me blankly. Today he goes, "Yeah, but MAVS ONE, ROCKETS ZERO!" I could've slapped him. I said, "How many championships do the Mavs have, huh?" And then he tried to convince me that the Mavs won a championship in the late '70s. It was pretty laughable, but I wasn't surprised. Every single Mavericks fan I've ever met doesn't know a thing about the NBA.

There's a couple people in each of my classes who like the Rockets and come talk to me after the previous nights' game or whatnot. They are fairweather fans and know who's on the team, but not much past that. The day after a game I'm usually telling people all day about the outcome and describing what happened. I don't mind it, you know, these people don't act like they're super fans or something.

Of course yesterday this girl was coming out of a building with one of those annoying pink McGrady jerseys on. I was still feeling down about the Mavs game and I went up to her and said "Tough game last night, I hope we can somehow keep it a game against the Spurs." She looked at me and said "Oh, I don't keep up with their games, but my boyfriend likes them a lot." I was sad for her for a second, but then again that's pretty typical.

I don't like them! They get on my nerves when the playoffs start.

NONE of my girlfriends watch every game like I do(when I can!) and they, all sudden, root for them when they're in the playoffs. They don't know anyone on the team except T-mac or Yao.

Fortunately, I have my co-worker who is a die hard fan and two guy friends to talk with about the Rockets. It's funny when I know more stuff than a guy. Other day, I was talking to a guy who thought that Francis was traded to here.

Anyway, I'd be glad if I ever meet a chick who's on the same level as me!

They are slightly annoying but you just deal with them and keep the conversation light and nothing too deep.

However, if I find someone who's hardcore like me then we can get into the good conversations

Yeah, I love the fact that there are several chicks on this site who know more about th Rockets than most of my male friends.

Seriously, not to sound like an elitist or anything, but I just don't understand guys who don't keep up with sports. I just don't get it.

I know what you mean, sports in general has been such an important part of my life since I was a kid, keeping up with my teams is just a fact of life. Can understand how some people have no intrest in sports or anything

Wow. I'm gonna bump this in January when you are singing his praises. He's gonna be really good once he stops fouling so much

Only a few close friends are die-hard Rox fans. Others like them but don't pay much attention to them. It doesn't bother me, just like it won't bother me when they get on the bandwagon or when A-Train starts spewing about how great Scola has become ;)

I hate it when this happens. I used to work with another Rockets fan and it was great when we would just sit and talk about the team. But then there are those that dont know crap about the Rockets and want to talk about the wife or kids. Nothing wrong with this, but come on man, at least know who won the frakin game. I usually just let it go and start talking about my kids Sampson, Francis and Hakeem. ;)
I dont know what I would do without sports.......really.

Oh snap! I was actually gonna get my gf a pink Tmac jersey for her birthday last month, but I couldn't find it at Champs so I just bought the normal red swingman. Close call eh?

All my other female friends are like "that Jeff Van Grady guy came in my restaurant the other day" or "Is that Chuck Hazel?" I was actually watching a game with this girl last season and she saw Vspan running the ball and she's like "Ohhh Yao Ming!" If they weren't so cute I'd run them over.

One girl thinks me of being very immature for obsessing over the Rockets too much. Should I defriend her now or later?
