I'm starting to dislike the whole Yi thing. If he doesnt wanna play in Milwaukee because its a small market, fine, whatever, Franchise did it, I can understand that. But to play the Asian card is just so stupid. I dont understand the desire to play in a large Asian market. What's that going to do to help his jumpshot, or improve his defense. Oh you say its for marketability? Guess what, Asians everywhere will be interested in him regardless of where he plays. ESPN wont televise small market games? Guess how many of Yao's games ESPN televised in his rookie year when we were bad enough the prior year to be in the lottery. He won't get endorsement deals? BULLCRAP. The ad execs will be falling over themselves to get in touch with him the very first time he stuffs one home over D12. Completely dumb to play the Asian card. Most Chinese media and Chinese fans are saying this thing is mishandled. They are urging Yi should just suck it up and play for Bucks because rules are rules. Just a FYI. Personally I think the first thing Yi should do right now is to fire his agents. He will be very stupid to continue let this thing going on. He is already in a very tough situation and his image has been damaged. I am not even sure how many teams will line up and propose a trade for him, knowing what kind of group of ppl are behind this guy. Very stupid and short sighted. sigh.
I'm not saying I agree with what Yi did, nor is it right at all, but why draft a player who is going to be unhappy to play for your team. Considering he already dissed the team by not working out with them, the logical thing to do is to pick a different player, or draft him and trade him for some other valubale pieces.
It isn't quite as simple as you think. Draftees don't have the privilege of telegraphing which teams can take them. The logical thing for the Bucks to do was draft who they thought was the best player. I completely reject the notion the Bucks have any fault here. It's all on Yi. Both sides are taking a risk but the Bucks simply did what every NBA team has done the last 50 years.
I did not over-react. I was just saying Yi's Chinese agent is just a dummy in this Yi-Bucks show. Dan Fegan is the real player in the show. But Yi is just naive/stupid to believe in Fegan and blindly follow his draft/trade strategy.

Maybe in the past, but it's seems like he has his hands on the steering wheel here. Probably has a closer relationship with Yi than Fegan.
What past? I am confused. There have been only 3 Chinese players in NBA. One is Yao, and the other two have already quit NBA and back to China. All these three players haven't hired Yi's current Chinese agent. So he's a "rookie" agent, which means he doesn't even have you so-called "past" NBA experience. As a rookie agent, do you really believe he has the ability to play all these draft tricks? Impossible. These are all Fegan's master piece.
He is playing by the rules. He can sit out the year, not get paid (pass on millions) and enter the draft next season. What he is doing is no different than what Elway (#1 pick), E.Manning (#1 pick), Kobe (#1 talent) and Francis (#2 pick) did. The only difference is he isn't American. I don't recall us dogging Francis too much when he b****ed his way out of Vancouver....

Kobe got traded for Vlade, when did he say 'im not playing for charlotte'? Ice, what if he gets drafted by another small market team? portland? memphis? this crap can go on forever. I believe in David Stern, he can end this mess. put a 5 year ban on players who refuse to play for their drafted teams.
