Yi is not as smart as Yao and don't know much of USA and has no reliable friend here. HE is a puppy of his agent. They misjudged a lot of things.
So it's foreinger disrespecting small marktet town ticks you off now. Where were you when Francis was traded here from Canada.
We will see. They are taking the risk definitely for a reward. But they have to make sure even if a trade is made, the other team will be a good situation for Yi too. The 76er just not much better than the Bucks IMO in terms of basketball.
any athlete who is offered millions of dollars to play a sport and gets mad because its not in his city of choice deserves to have his athletic ability taken away and given to someone more grateful.
I really don't think its fair for the Milwaukee Bucks organization, the entire National Basketball Association, and probably not for Yi. First of all, the Milwaukee Bucks used such a high pick, #6 on Yi, who they felt really was the best player available, only to be dissed by Yi and his agents. I really don't think it's Yi's fault. I agree with posts above that Yi has been made a pawn of his agents, and maybe Nike. Yi personally himself said he could see himself in all probability in a Bucks jersey next year, while his agent is probably working off his sweat and blood to find a trade. I'm sure Yi really doesn't mind, its just his agents and the Chinese. David Stern should do something about this. If he can propose a "racist" dress code, make rules to prevent his players from entering certain nightclubs, give out suspensions, and otherwise control the lives of NBA players, he certainly should do something about this Yi situation.
At first I wasn't sure, but now I don't buy this nonsense that Yi is a "pawn" of his agents. That's what he and his reps want us to think so Yi gets minimal flak over this. Baloney. It's on him! The longer it drags on, the more obvious the truth will be to everyone.
If he doesn't want to sign a contract with the Bucks, he doesn't have to sign a contract. The Bucks shouldn't have drafted someone who did everything but send them a "Welcome to Dumpsville, Population : You" card.
i thought the sarcasm in the last line of my last post was about as subtle as a sledgehammer, but perhaps not. exactly. the bucks have every right to draft him. he has every right to say i don't wanna play for you. and they have every right to say well then you won't make any money for the whole year. there is no right or wrong, it simply is what it is. maybe neither side will blink, maybe yi will, but it most likely will be the team stupid enough to give themselves a headache with the #6 pick in a good draft. maybe they'll add a new rule that says a team holds your rights forever after drafting you until you sign. or maybe they'll say you can never play in the nba if you don't sign with the team that drafts you, assuming they offer the max for your draft slot. but neither rule is on the table, so everyone is doing what they have to do right now to make it work out the best for themselves.
I think it is abd that a player says he doesn't want to play for the team that drafted him, i thought it was bad when Francis did it(altough it was in our advantage), and i still think it is bad now. the bucks should just not trade him, and let him miss his salary and the opportunity to play in the NBA. If players can demand they get traded after they are drafted then the whole idea o0f lesser teams getting the better players in the draft is ruined.
I think Yi should play for the Bucks. While you may say that the Bucks knew he may or may not want to play with him, Yi also knew full well before the draft that he might get drafted by a team he may or may not want to play for. That little thing, along with the fact that others have forced trades before does not me he should shirk on his obligations. Steve Francis forced a trade, he was wrong, as is Yi here, if it was indeed his intention to do so. Thankfully, I see no indication of that yet. Having said that though, this following is just ridiculous. Yi's plans ALWAYS WAS to rejoin the national team for summer. As a matter of fact, he sought a permission of leave from the CNT for the draft and was supposed to return as soon as it was over. Just because Herb Kohl is an idiot that didn't do his homework (like most US politicians) does not implicate the lack of a response from Yi. Where did Kohl mail the letter to, the hotel he no longer stayed?
LMAO tinman do you have a brain? So you got 3 options against Yi and 1 neutral option. What kind of rigged poll is this??? Yi Sucks Wontons? Why wontons... How old are you 12? And what does this have to do with Yi? Is it Yi who despises the Bucks or the business masterminds behind him? I don't think Yi himself gives a sh*t about a few extra millions. If so then he would have entered the draft last year and taken first pick money. I don't know if all this is too much for your empty nut shell to process. LOL what a ridiculous poll. You're the kind who plays poker and on every hand ask his opponent if he would give up or just fold. Let's see how many people falls for it here.
wontons, you've never heard of wontons? if this poll was so bad, explain why so many people responded to it. listen scrub. you want your own thread, start one. i doubt anyone would give a fart about some lesser rookie user than an original member like me. june 2007? please. go back and play your world of warcraft. this is a board of people who are passionate about the Houston Rockets and the NBA.
This is a fun drama to watch in a slow sports week. It doesn't affect the Rockets. Yi looks like a spoiled prima donna in the classic American over hyped, under motivated, NBA player mold. Think Mike Dunlevey with growly Chinese handlers.
