I get this feeling after every World Cup, after watching soccer for a month and then going back to the NBA. It's like how 'outsiders' complain about the NFL - people run around for 5 seconds of action, and then 1 minute before another play. The NBA almost feels like that for the first game or two. All those stops between fouls, free throws, and commercial breaks suddenly stick out and make it feel sluggish.
Dude, Gooch sucks. He is a below average defender who is probably the most overrated player on our team because of his physical size. He did not even get to play today, which was probably the most important game of our season. And did you notice we had our first clean sheet in the last however long?? Coincidence, I think not.......
I agree. Didn't want to say anything in the WC thread because Dada would've gone crazy but.. he is highly overrated. Just doesen't have the skill. A better example, sammy, might be Mertersacker, Metzelder, Lucio, Yaya Toure etc. All physical specimens.
i like this attitude. no problem if you dont like it, just seemed like you didnt even give it a fair shot.
I wouldn't say Gooch sucks, he played well in Confederations Cup and before then as well. This WC...ok yea he's played poorly. Back to the subject of following soccer...quite frankly it ain't gonna happen. Unless we win it all, (sadly) it will be a once every four year thing. Rooting for your country is one thing, rooting for the Dynamo (which I do) is another. The poll itself is skewed for the fact that its on a sports forum.
How did that guy miss the cut? Well, I know the answer to that, but it still seems odd Brazil wouldn't find a spot for him. Hard to believe he's already thirty years old.
Brasil is just stacked at mid field. I still believe he should of made it though. Yeah, seems it was yesterday when he was the renowned best player in the world with Barcelona playing against the second best player in the world in Thierry Henry with Arsenal. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DP4mJXDAvK4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DP4mJXDAvK4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> What a run he had with Barca.
while I always liked soccer, I never became a real fan (followed a fav. team, kept up with players) until I started playing organized games. dribbling past a defender with a ball using your hands is easy. Dribbling by a defender with a ball using your feet takes skill and creativity. You begin to recognize the true art of the game is in the passing, the movement, and the touches - not necessarily the scoring which is what everyone focuses on.
^^^^^ THIS IS TRUTH RIGHT HERE. NFL: Here's the ball... run around a fat dude. No! Not through him. What do you mean, "you lost the ball 'cuz he hit you hard"? NBA: Here's a ball. Shoot it into a rim. Oh, yeah, dribble it, too. MLB: Hold on... it's not your turn yet... nope... not yet... not yet... [now?] Nope. Sit back down. Oops. Not your turn yet. Go stand out there in left field.
Yaaaa Algeria didn't score one goal in 3 games. Coincidence? I think not.. Plus, I was referring to Gooch physically and he got praised for his effort against England.
Run...Run....Run...."kick me the ball!.....run.... run.... run...."kick me the ball!"....run run....run.....run....pass.....run....pass....run.....attemp to score.....blocked....run....run....attempt to score....GOALLLLLL!!!!!.....game over 1-0....
I thought soccer was like this. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/noOHdTQd6H8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/noOHdTQd6H8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Well I can only give a pass to the NBA for using that term.... NFL using "world champs" for a sport only in the US is downright ridiculous SMDH .
I'm definitely more interested than before. I still haven't caught a game, but I've been more intrigued even espn scoreboard watching it than I've been in the past. I'll try and catch a second round game.
