I don't give a damn about soccer. The only way the World Cup has changed my life is now I get into spats with (bandwagon?) soccer fans who blow a gasket when I say I don't watch the sport and don't see the appeal. I'll even be nice at the beginning and say "I don't really have an interest in the sport" and they can't accept that so after a few minutes my responses get a little more abrasive. Luckily, they are soccer fans so I don't have to worry about getting beat up.

The impact for the most part is not the people posting on an internet message board like this one, it is in the kids that watched it and may be inspired to get out there and take up the sport.

I'm probably going to start giving up my NBA watching in favor of soccer, but not MLS, I'll just watch euro league stuff.

Soccer is amazing. You take these incredible athletes, who can do unbelievable things with their feet, and then make then run back and forth for three hours while kicking themselves in the shins constantly, chasing after a ball, while corrupt officials loaf about, and end up with an amazing 1-0 score, thus creating the most boring 'sport' in history.

I would literally watch grass growing or paint drying before I would waste my time watching one second of soccer.

This world cup hasn't been too fun for me.

2002 and 2006 was much better imo.

I grew up with soccer being on TV all the times but never really played it. I've sat down and watched Mexican soccer many times but never really with USA soccer which is a shame. I love watching World Cup every 4 years. I think I might give Dynamo a try this year. Never attended a game.

I've watched some MLS but now I plan on going to a Dynamo game or two next season.

Love it more every time I watch.

The level of play at the WC, or EPL, however, dwarfs that of the MLS.

The level of play is one thing, but the fact that our American stars are overseas sucks.

Plus MLS seems way too Americanized... it's image is just so bush... the team names, uniforms, mascots... just seems so rinky-dink.

    yup...

To echo what TheRealist137 said (minus the arrogance comment), I'm used to seeing the best players in the world playing in the leagues that all players aspire to. MLS is not that.

But I'll catch a EURO game on TV when it's on. And I'm glued to the tube for the next few weeks!

You really know pitifully little about soccer, don't you.

Nah. Quite the opposite. I just value size, strength and explosive athleticism in athletes as opposed to endurance and refusing to play a sport where they can use their hands. I think that is part of soccer's appeal to many people. The players look like average dudes and don't do anything that the average dude doesn't think he could do with some practice. Soccer makes every couch potato dream of what could have been.

I know enough to know they look r****ded when they fight or do you think headbutting a guy in the chest is a great way to kick his ass?

This must be your first time watching the sport. Go about your business at Walmart and don't shy away from the fried chicken.

Ariza's explosiveness and sick dunks say hi

A lot of soccer pisses me off for the same reason the other major sports do. Flopping, douchebags, bad refs.

And yet... I'm really into it.

I think it's the exact opposite. The combination of coordination, athleticism, endurance and planning that goes into soccer is exquisite. I'm certainly not a soccer fanboy - I watch World Cups, but I have nowhere near the interest in the sport as a whole relative to football, basketball and baseball. Even so, out of all those sports, soccer to me appears the most challenging and the least likely for me to have been able to do.

Says the guy who follows the sport where riots and piss bombs from the fans are the norm.
