Probably because Jason Terry as well as John Stockton hit dagger 3's against the Rockets in the playoffs. Plus Terry always had our number. I think Rockets fans feared him more than hated him. It's not like he had a rep for being a bad or dirty guy like Stockton and Malone, so it's easier to warm up to the dude now that he's playing here.
At the time of the trade, I thought that Gee for Terry and two 2nd round picks was a beautiful trade. But I just thought acquiring two second round picks for a guy who had no place in our plans was amazing. I knew Terry had a chance to fill a role on this team due to his skillset, but I don't think anybody, including Daryl Morey, expected him to contribute at this level. I can't believe we got two second round picks and one of our most reliable bench players for Alonzo friggin' Gee.
Jason Terry might be my favorite Rocket this year................................................ does not seem right saying that man.
No, I definitely hated him. It's not that he was dirty. It was that he would hit a big shot, and then rub it in our face...with his little jet act and talking ish to the crowd. I love it on our team...I hate it against our team!
just love this guy's humbleness and leadership here with us. After every big play he is always cheering and getting the crowd to be louder. So awesome he's ours.
My favorite thing about Terry on this team this season is watching him audition for his next job as an assistant coach. I notice him coaching up the young players on the team every single game -- especially Canaan. He's not just one of those quiet veterans who give token veteran leadership, he is going out of his way to teach the game to young players who are competing with him for playing time. That is invaluable stuff right there my friends.
Err... players like Steven Adams. I know that wasn't what you were saying, but just chiming in. Some players you just gotta hate.
Daniels only gets to play in garbage time, so I don't want to assume his shot would still be off if he played meaningful minutes. Still, Terry is an upgrade over him and is even holding his own at PG. Last year's team clearly lacked veteran leadership. Terry fills that void nicely, even if he's old. Portland had a similar player in Mo Williams. Even though we hated him in the series, he clearly played a role in them winning the series.
can somebody with knowledge breakdown the particulars in what we gave up to the kings to get terry...
Forgot to say, at this point I don't see us trading him. He definitely has a role for him on this team and his leadership is needed. Unlike Garcia, it's good to have a leader on the court who isn't a complete scrub.
Poise, 3's, leadership, clutch, underrated passer. In my book he beats Bev and certainly Canaan, any day. Unfortunately he's old and so is not a long-term option.
Scotty Hopson, Alonzo Gee and they got a trade exception haha....They basically wanted to get Jet's contract off the books to free up cash for other moves, they gave us two second rounders on top of it to do so...We pretty much got paid to take Jason Terry and he is outperforming everyone's expectations...Many people thought Terry was the bonus but he's proved thus far that he was the main commodity of that deal
