I'm the same way, which people may have noticed when they see the "crazy" times that I post. And I can't take a nap to save my life. Just can't do it. Anyone else have that problem? I'll be going on 4 hours sleep, have the chance to nap for an hour or two, and will lay there, staring at the ceiling, until I give it up and do something.
I'm a night owl as well. I'll finish projects at midnight or so and do well, but if I were to do one at 10:00 a.m, I would probably fail. It's probably all in my head though. I think its psychological.
You are in HS right? Wait until college. I can already see your future. You will get the opportunity to stay up late nights gaming. Take late classes. You'll begin doing all your projects late at night. By the time you are a junior you will be shredding through assignments and studying from 11-4am. In HS by the time I was a senior I couldn't sleep until 12am at the earliest. I would get up at 6am for bball practice. Be exhausted ALL day. Then by 8pm I would be in full blown out awesome alert mode. Your gonna end up just like me. Get out while you can.
That was exactly me in college. Every class of mine started past 4PM. Now, I am the only one at my work who voluntarily works the overnight trading desk at my firm. My sharpest hours are at the night. 6AM-12 noon? Forget about it. I haven't experienced those hours in many years.
It's 1 a.m. here in Germany now. During the NBA season, I am often still awake when the Rockets play. I guess this means I am a night person...

I used to work nights, get off at 2am and not get to bed until 6am. I had no problems with that. Now I work mornings, get up at 5am and am usually asleep by 11pm. No problems with that either. Not sure if I'm just lucky that I'm able to do either or what. It's a little rough at first, but after a while my body adjusts and no issues...
Night person here! Even after a good nights sleep my brain does not wake up until 10am or so... At night after a day of work i get a little sleepy around 7pm and then get the inevitable second wind around 9-10pm. If I go to bed at a normal time of say 11pm I just stare at the ceiling because for some unexplained reason I just cannot fall asleep. Normal bed time for me 1am-2am, which kind of sucks on the days I have to get up for work at 6am... Somebody mentioned the inability to nap. I cannot nap to save my life. I can be sitting on the coach falling asleep watching golf catching 5 second snipets, at some point I will get up and go to my bed thinking maybe I need a good nap and BAM! wide awake staring at the ceiling . I am not sure what causes it but I would change it if I could siimply due to having to work in the daytime. I have some serious sleep debt to pay back...
