i watched the spurs warriors game tonight in austin.. two things can happen tomorrow. 1. the warriors will have lost their motivation to play the night after being blown out in the first 6 minutes of the game and never getting close. their game against the spurs was never a contest.. 2. they will be fired up and all the stars (who got to rest their injuries; bdiddy's ribs, jrich's knee) will come out running and gunning as if it's not even the 2nd game of a back to back on the road. i get the bad feeling that it'll be the 2nd. the warriors are the best shooting team %-wise in the NBA, and they won't have back to back game like that. our defense is REALLY going to have to step up, and the warriors are going to have to stay in whatever funk they were in tonight..
Why are we so worried about the Warriors? It's the freaking Warriors we're talking about! We can't be seriously talking about getting into the playoffs in the west if we can't even beat the Warriors at home on their 2nd game of back to back!
They're the best shooting team because they haven't played any good defensive teams lately. They've been racking up points and shots against the likes of Portland, Seattle, Toronto, Denver and the Lakers. But when they played Utah, SA, Detroit and New Orleans, they only scored over 100 twice, and were consistently held under 93 points the other many times. So, this team struggles against a good, solid and disciplined defensive unit.
Well, as of now Toyota Center is the hardest arena to score points in in the league. We've held four or five straight opponents to sub 40% shooting. If GS wants to win, they're gonna have to play defense against us. And I don't see how they're going to pull it off. The main challenge will be keeping Baron Davis out of the paint, obviously...so if we can do that, mission accomplished. As potent as they are offensively, they rely on penetration and assists to get the job done, and they're not a very good 3 point shooting team (the only 3 point specialist on that team is Troy Murphy). Just stick to the plan, make them shoot contested jumpers all day. They're not going to be getting any easy layups. It worked against LeBron, it should work against B-Diddy. I'm not worried.
Okay no offense but this thread should be locked a new thread titled "How do we stop the Houston Rockets" should be made
