The bean/cheese burritos that you can buy at any ordinary Taqueria restaurant taste a lot different (and better) than the basic ones I make at home.

How exactly do I get it to taste exactly the same? Anyone know of the exact tortilla, beans, and cheese they typically use?

Can't say I've had any, but how are you making them? Maybe a picture would help.

unroll a tortilla, pull your underpants down, fill it with poo, then wrap it up.

Underpants is a funny word. Poo. Poo is a funny word, too.

I mean pretty simple - shredded cheese, refried beans, tortilla. That's all that goes in the Taqueria burrito but it taste a lot different.

Couldn't hurt to fry the shells in veggie oil.

That's my go-to move when making my fried avocado tacos.

My kid brother hate's sour cream and most meats so I cut up some cados and lightly rub them with salt before dredging them in flour. Next you coat them in egg and finally panko bread crumbs. Throw them in the freezer until you get everything else ready and then fry them up along with the shells.

    Veggie oil?

    No!

Real men fry with lard only!

Lard in the beans. Are they using cheddar/jack type cheese or a more Mexican style (asadero, oaxaca)? Where are you getting your tortillas?

They don't use canned retried beans. You need to buy dry pinto then cook them with lard, bacon fat and onions (or just onion powder).

The cheese is one of the above mentioned.

My wife hates it when I cook (mess, ... and I have tried to substitute vegetable or canola oil for lard, but unfortunately, you have to use lard for frying your tortillas and beans.

Pick up Mexicans off of Washington Ave, and bring them to your house.

Thanks for the video - I at least now know that the tortillas are from a Mexican market and not the ordinary Mission brand one's. Can you buy something like that at your local Costco, Safeway, etc? Or do you need to find a Mexican market?

No lard - the burrito has a vegetarian sign so they don't use lard. And the cheese I'm not sure - it's white so I think Monterey Jack maybe? Or maybe I'm wrong - never heard of asadero/oaxaca cheese.

Pretty sure they're canned pinto beans. Just remembered They aren't refried and aren't cooked in lard because they're vegetarian.

    Vegetarian burritos at a taqueria?

You can probably find better tortilla brands somewhere like Fiesta...or Google map a tortilleria for more authenticity.

I mean some of the items have a vegetarian sign on the menu; this is one of the items that does.

The key is to use fresh ingredients and spices/herbs that are native to your dish

For a bean and cheese burrito, that is very simple. Make tortillas, beans, and buy a block of whatever cheese you'd like (I think white cheddar is most common but you can expirement with others such as red leicester)

It really is as simple as that. You aren't working with meat so there is literally NO WAY you could mess up. Get cookin!
