Thanks for all of the advice, guys. I appreciate all of the input. Had I decided to make the entire trip, it would have meant making a long road trip on the 23rd and making the return drive on the 30th. As it is, I made a deal with my mom...Told her I'd like to go, but I did not want to be there for the entire week....so if she bought me a one-way airline ticket I'd fly up on Thursday and make the drive home with them on Sunday. Not particularly excited about making the return drive home...but it's been a long time since I've been able to spend time with my mom, and I'm happy that I get to spend part of the trip with her. (unfortunately, she can't get out much as she takes care of her mother with alzheimer's).

Oh yeah, I'm also going to Vegas on August 7-10. I had a friend that was going to go with me, but he ended up backing out...My heart was set on going to Vegas so I went ahead and booked a room and airline ticket anyway! If any ClutchFans are going to be in town during that time frame, I'd love to meet up with you guys.

You're in Oklahoma? Are you an OU grad?

To the issue at hand, I don't think you're being selfish. After I went on a family trip to Tennessee 2 years ago, I vowed never to go on a family trip again. I'm 20 and I don't feel like I should be pressured into doing that kind of stuff. You being 22 and a college grad with a job, I think the same would go tenfold for you.

No, I'm not in Oklahoma and I'm not an OU grad. I live in Arkansas and I'm starting law school in August at the University of Arkansas. My mom and her family live in Oklahoma, though.

That was dictated by your circumstance not your age. I'm not sure he is as independent as you are and is about to be consumed by graduate school and a law career. This is a last fling for the family.
