How Do All The Taquerias And Mom And Pop Mexican Restaurants Survive in Houston

    In inner city Houston in Hispanic neighborhoods its like every third building on the main drag is one.

    The most expensive part of Mexican food is labor cost and rent.

    In both cases those are less when it is a family business in a place with cheap rent.

    They get good traffic though. There are 2.6 million Hispanics in Houston (just looked it up). Lot more than I thought

    Yes they do and very few people dislike Mexican food

    I didn't know about taquerias till I was about 24. I didn't like Mexican food till then. All I liked were fajitas.

    Blows my mind when I see Hispanics eating Taco Bell

    Margin-wise, queso and guacamole are the 2 biggest money makers in a typical texmex joint.
