Very cool article mcmark. reminds me why i miss ol' Mr.Paige who used to post here back in the day. A struggling artist in all senses, yet with strong, reasoned, conservative views on many things. Funny that Doctor falls into the GOP camp. The economics of the profession overrides the alturism? I wonder where Lawyer fits in? Seems everyone want to be one....yet nobody really likes 'em . When I looked at the platforms of the Dems and Republicans...I found VERY FEW differences. Other than the sound bites, their platforms were so so similar. Scary similar. Very sad. Even things they claimed they differed on....when you read their official positions...they were virtually the same! I always assumed I was a Democrat -- but man....they'd be considered a very right wing party in most other countries! You don't see this to the same extent elsewhere -- even those with two party systems.
Look at the newly passed pork-barrel highway bill, you'll understand what a dime worth of difference between the Republicans and Democrats in Congress.
I don't believe there is much difference between the two. They trumpet their differences so loudly during campaigns, and during TV 'news' shows, you'd think they stood across from one another on an unbridgeable abyss. But, from a purely practical viewpoint - they're all next door neighbors in the neighborhood with the biggest houses, tallest fences, and meanest security guards. Their wealth assures that they will continue to be loyal to their wealth (it's the source of their power) at the expense of all of us who have been suckered into thinking we're on their side.
