I wasn't really into message boards in 01' but I decided to look at the ESPN boards after a rockets game and saw someone say. "What is your favorite rockets bbs? Mine is cc.net" I signed up and posted the same day and have been hooked ever since.
I heard about ClutchFans back in '97 or '98 on SportsRadio 610 in Houston. Lance, either on the morning show, or way back in the day on his Sunday night show, was pimping the website.
Been browsing the front page and chatting in the chat room since the days of Mike Dickerson and Roderick Rhodes. Registered for the BBS before Xmas of 99 and started posting in March or so of 2000. We'll all try to forget about those first few ... oh 3000 or so posts.
I stumbled across the board back in the summer of '01. I was looking for any information about the upcoming draft. I found a link to this site from NBADraft.net. I lurked the board till the rockets won the draft lottery and I couldnt view the board without registering.
Found clutchcity.com when looking for a nice player forum. Just looking for anything with opionions about the Rox and players. Pretty much only lurked. After the clutchcity.com became a different site, I started nosing there a little bit but never felt comfortable with the way the site was setup. Then I saw the link to clutchcity.net and pseudo explainaton of what happened (actually kind of nice of him to do that) and came here. Never went back. Though for a while right before Yao Ming was drafted and I started college, I stopped coming for a few months because my comp died and the forum then had a whole must register to view thing (and ofcourse I was busy with the HS - College transition). Then after Rox won the first pick, I just got to comeback and talk about Yao. But still a diehard Rox at heart. Now I can't stop posting and wondered how I ever lurked for some many years.
Was always searching for a good Rockets website, and stumbled across this one via yahoo. Since then I've converted several others to frequent the site and a few to actually register. Then greatness like Doc Rocket, DiSeAsEd mOnKeY and COACH SAMPSON made it an addiction.
Now THAT is a really eclectic group! Was I really that bad? I had a job to do, and I did it to the best of my ability, dammit! I found this place in the summer of 98. One thing I remember was how few posters there were in the off season. You had to wait an hour, read three posts, wait another hour, read three more...
When I moved back to the USA from Saudi Arabia back in 1998, I did a quick search one day when I was bored on Google. Clutchcity.com came up. I began checking that site out, and then one day the news of CC.net came up. I then lurked around for a year or so. I always read the articles on the main page, and began to lurk in the bbs. I eventually registered and finally made my first post in the GARM like a year after being registered. It took me a couple of years to finally wander over to the Hangout Forum. Since then....I can't shut up. In the last year, i probably posted 80% of my total posts.
I was at work looking for anything about The Rockets and came upon the site. I think I was looking for a way to buy a tie with the new Rockets logo or one of Rudy's designs. I'm glad I found this site. I'm still looking for the ties though.
I moved to Houston late in 1998. I watched the Rockets because of Barkley. In 1999 my co-worker had a Rockets website. He was linked to here, so that's how I found it. I started out as Sniper, and then became Gutter Snipe in "THE BET". It's not surprising that this thread is pulling the frequent posters out of the works, but some of y'all got it bad: adeelsiddiqui: 10+ posts per day.
I had felt like this recently, when I managed to see a few games. It was then that I realised that being ill-informed is an absolute prerequisite for posting in there. I swear, some people must watch the games with their eyes closed. There are hundreds who post comments just based on box scores too.
I went next door because the guy there had the net and he let me download some things off the NBA.com site. I was lucky to come across Cluct City back then (About....1996 maybe?) and have been coming back every day since.
I found it right after it started, in 96 I believe. Started out as "RocketMan West" and changed my name when I moved back from the land of fruits, nuts, earthquakes, riots and celebrity murder scandals in 1998.
I used to frequent the newsgroup alt.sports.basketball.nba.hou-rockets back in '95ish and thought that was the greatest forum ever for Rocketball talk. I had an old AT&T computer that was text only and I would dial up to UH's Jetson's cluster and browse the internet through whatever available text methods there were. I guess I finally got my parent to donate me an upgraded computer and I probably just typed in clutchcity.com and/or clutchcity.net and found this place. I initially used it as a frontpage info source, but decided to check out the BBS. I spent most of my time in the GARM forum, but eventually moved to the Hangout. I can go to Google groups and search for my UH username and find all of my old posts. I was a pretty articulate fellow back in the day...now I just strive to be A-train Jr. (without the "all in" bets ).
I belive I also heard it on the radio 610. I lurked for a while before I ever registered. I still lurk alot now though. I enjoy hearing other people's view on the rockets. 97 BABY
I can't really remember, but I think I heard it on the radio... The only sports D&D site I really visit...
I came across here back in 98 when I first got my comp and did a search on the Rockets. I made it my home page back in 99 and it hasn't changed since. I finally registered and lurked around for a while before I posted.
