Budinger has a sweet shot. Glen Rice was a GREAT jump shooter with a ridiculously longer range. Collegiately, Rice had the greatest offensive NCAA tournament (1989) performance I've seen in my lifetime. Budginer had a solid college career and has better ball-handling skills than Rice. Besides neither being good defenders, they don't approach the game similarly. Offensively, Rice was a pure jump shooter who developed some decent post up moves later in his career. Budinger has showing to be a solid shooter, with a penchant to do a little more all-around offensively. As far as OP's query why Budinger's stock dropped, I think it had a lot to do with his inconsistent play offensively, and just simply bad play on a consistent basis defensively.
