Budinger is gonna be good! I went to a couple of the summer league games and he was the guy I was most impressed with. I'll admit, I looked at him and said "Oh, that's our latest Matt Bullard or Steve Novak." THEN I saw him put the ball on the floor and drive... he aint no Steve Novak! LOL I loved the one post draft analysis i read that said if he didnt improve various aspects of his game, 'he would be nothing but another Keith Van Horn.'....what an ignorant statement.... I'd take a young KVH with a 2nd rd pick and the contract that goes with it! Why did he drop so far? Cause all these gms are trying to find the next MJ - drafting on potential - rather than being happy to steal a solid KVH with a meaningless pick. IMAO....

    TEH NBA IS FULLO RACISSTS!

    really??....cause he's white....really??

It would be funny to have some top secret video/audio of one of the many white NBA GM's during the draft expressing how they wouldn't pick a guy because he's white.

If Larry Bird wasn't trying to make a white out for the Pacers, you could use his quote from his playing days.

Bizarro Kanye "The NBA hates white people"

Anyways, in all seriousness, I'll wait to see Chase play in a real NBA season game before I make my judgement. He does sound promising though.

Ignorant... don't you think that is a bit harsh. I know your an Arizona guy but you are going to call me ignorant for using the wrong word. Sometimes when I am typing I think ahead and rarely do I proofread what I say. Of course Arizona has a history of great basketball. Program was not the right word season or just atotally different sentence would have been better. The fact is since Olsen went down Arizona has been average. 19-15, 21-14, yeah Duke had an off year too but 30-7 is a whole lot better.

ANyway my point was not to put down Arizona but rather to point that Duke has a bigger rep and much more media than even Arizona with Lute and Henderson might have (the keyword might) benefited from it. Not a put down on Arizona at all but rather a statement on how Duke is currently on a different level. If you can not acknowledge that than you are the ignorant (your word) idiot.

Perhaps because the Wildcats were just a little better than mediocre and Budinger didn't produce big numbers on a weaker team, perhaps GM's and scouts thought Budinger would play worse at the next level. Personally I think Budinger's game will translate easily into the NBA. He is athletic enough and what he does is a skillset that many teams can use. Of course you might think that is ignorant.

Here are a few tweets from David Thorpe on Budinger I saw from yesterday vs Lakers:

    • I've never been a believer in Budinger. But I was probably wrong.
    • He has to do more, sure, but his shooting/scoring/driving game, when combined with a 6'7+ athletic package, is NBA level

    And today vs Warriors:

    • Chade Budinger has come out aggressive. Good for him.
    • Budinger is showing his talent. But not enough toughness. He needs to slow down and finish inside.

Today? I thought yesterdays game was the last one.. I think that was tweeted the 1st game of the summer league when Leunen did well and everyone else looked mediocre.

But yeah, I wasnt able to watch the games but is Chase a straight SF or is he a swingman who can play the 2 as well? Trying to think of line ups considering he makes it over JT and White.

Wow. Who peed in your cheerios. Chase is easier to spell/type than Budinger. So get used to all kinds of affectionate nicknames for him such as; "Chase", "Bud", "CB" etc.

I don't know why he "slipped". But regardless, that may be the best thing that happened for him and certainly for the Rockets.

A co-worker who listens to the Houston sports radio stuff, said there was an interview with Budinger and he said Budinger sounded "p***ed that he was drafted so late.

This will light the needed fire for him to work to correct any deficiencies he has and "prove" everybody who passed on him wrong.

Also, from the article posted earlier, sounds like he may help fill the Artest "vacuum" of intensity. If he seemingly plays looking like he doesn't care, maybe he is concentrating on doing things technically right. Sometimes that doesn't leave room for an MJ tongue hanging out. Constantly wearing emotion may in fact drain you too much to be effective over the long haul.

as anyone compared buddinger to a nonwhite player?

usually i see something like this:

on a low end <insert white basketball player>
on a high end <insert white basketball player with better numbers>

Ok woah didn't mean to get you all worked up......its just that you make it sound as if coming out of Arizona hurt his stock.

Sure we're not as popular as Duke simply because its still Duke and the media coverage they get in the ACC >>>>>>> the coverage of the Pac 10.

Sure we only won 19 games during the regular season but most people don't realize that we originally had Jennings and a host of other top flight recruits before Jennings bailed to Europe and then Lute left, after which our other top recruits Jeff Withey and Negedu left, leaving us hanging there without our top recruits and the legendary coach. We depended on those players for depth, and after they left Jordan, Chase, and Nic was forced to carry the load again.

So my point is, if everything had gone right, Arizona would've had two potential top 10 prospects, a first round prospect (initially) in Chase, and All Pac 10 type player in Nic Wise, plus a 5 star center recruit in Jeff Withey. You think that wouldn't have been equal to Duke? Sorry for calling you out as "ignorant" but don't assume that we can't be as good as Duke if everything hadn't gone wrong for us. Arizona would've had a MUCH better season and would've gone further, possibly to the Final Four even, and Chase would've had MUCH more publicity and would've likely been drafted higher.

oh well, I digress, lets get back to comparing white guys :p

I would say Glen Rice is a spot on comparison for Budinger. Yeah its the white guy syndrome and he also was stomped on in his senior year. However he was a high scorer and field goal percentage shooter who also had the right size, right team ethic, right athletics to also translate to the NBA. His school is even in a tough conference and he plays high levels of competition every night and is still the best player in alot of those games yet he fell somehow. I go with the theory that if he and Hanesboro for that matter where mixed or darker would be top 5 or top 10 at worse in any draft. Not racism just the new perception in todays society. Kinda like a maybe a stereotype.

If his best comparison is Glen Rice, can our Chinese posters nickname him, "White Rice"?
