If he was an Euro he would have been a lotto pick as well, a high lotto pick like Gallinari. The reason he wasn't picked high were:

    1) He's an American white player, worse, an American white wing player. Those guys have a very high bust rate. It didn't help that Joe Alexander, with similar athleticism, looks like a complete project.

    2) He stayed in college too long. He could have left after his freshman year, he definitely should have left after his sophomore year with all the drama, instead he stayed for his Junior year. The longer a player stays in college, the less NBA types like him.

    3) His college teams did not do well. For the amount of talent on those AZ teams, they definitely underachieved. Although Bayless and Hill were lotto picks, so maybe this goes back to 1)

I'm not saying we got a steal and he'll be all rookie. I am saying that based on his atheleticism, college stats, game, etc.. this guy should have been drafted higher than he was. This is not a bad thing for Chase either, he'll make more money in the long run if he plays well as a 2nd rounder.

Said this in another thread but really this one is more apt. The fact that you guys are referring to him as "Chase" as though he is your boyfriend or something makes me want the Rockets to trade him ASAP.

Look what we found! Yeah, I know it was SL defense, but that boy can move, curl, cut, change direction, flash like a greased pig off back-screens--then he gets his shot off in the act of catching the ball, and he MAKES! Shot 68+%! Day-ummm! I hope DM signs him to a five-year deal; otherwise, he's gonna cost us down the road.

And if he were albino he would have been the last pick of the draft?

    (insert "roll-eyes" here)

i think CBud is about as close to albino as you can get without being albino - and he went 44th. so i think your assertion seems accurate :D

Because Chase sounds like an alias that a douche selling X at a club would use.

I think we need to temper our expectations a bit. It was just summer league after all. With that said, he didn't disappoint in anyway in the summer league. Let's see how he does in the pre-season to get a better barometer of his NBA career.

If Chase (Sorry Zig) would have only been an African-born player living in France averaging 5.5 points per game in a 3rd Tier French League, he would have been a surefire 1st rounder.

Reminds me of a really old Astros' story. Joe Morgan was on first base and Curt Blefary hit a double off the wall. Morgan stopped at third. Blefary jokingly said "If I were black you would have scored". Morgan replied, "If you were black, you would have hit a home run".
